Very interesting.
The wired article was a little ambiguous but it looks like the pastor turned over the churches credit union to coin.mx to help launder money, and somehow he accepted kickbacks for himself.  Once you start dipping into Gods kitty you would be on the path to hell- there are many NDE videos out there claiming the pastors are burning after stealing from the church.

I think the lesson here is to be very sensitive about how we eventually facilitate fiat to be exchanged for BBP.  (IE technologically speaking, to partner with FINCEN registered vendors).

This tells it better:  https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-20/florida-man-gets-16-months-over-bitcoin-bank-hacker-scheme   Essentially a hacker had bitcoin that he needed to convert to dollars,  a ukrakian in florida coded the software to make it looks like the money was being used to a restaurant business.  The pastor accepted $150k for them to run the money out of the credit union.  No one lost any money.  Compare this to the financial collapse of 2008 where people lost homes and their lives, yet no fat cats on wall street went to prison Smiley

hi, the op of this thread says there will be 5.2 billion coins by 2050,

but at http://wiki.biblepay.org/Main_Page it says there will be 14.5 billion coins by 2050.

which is it? 5.2 billion or 14.5 billion?

is there a limit to the total number of coins all-time?

It's the first one (5.2 billion). These are the updated stats:

I recreated the emission schedule and created these two pages:

EMISSION SCHEDULE PROJECTION: http://wiki.biblepay.org/Emission_Schedule

ECONOMICS: http://wiki.biblepay.org/Economics

I will update the OP and the website.

There is not an absolute number of total coins, since - if I remember correctly - the amount of BBP in each block depends on the mining difficulty.

Is solo mining without cpu-rigs still possible now? I don't understand how the new algorithm works, even after reading the topic. Is there a technical description of the PoB algorithm?

What is the current block reward? I dropped out at 20 something and still waiting for re-entry. Any advice on a good re-entry point?

No, this coin is still CPU only.

The block reward varies a bit on difficulty, but right now it averages about 15,000 if my math is right.  You say you dropped at out 20 something.  Not sure if you mean block 2000 or so, or if you mean price 20 satoshi or block reward (which when it started was 20K but due to difficulty rarely hit that on average).  Right now, unless you've got pretty cheap power, you're looking at mining for the health of the coin or future gains.  The daily "profit" from mining is pretty low or negative depending on your power usage and cost.  But mining helps keep the coin moving forward.  So now is a good time to re-enter!

Very confused to see relatively large BBP sales during it being nearly tied for it's record low, far outweighing purchases. Seems very irrational, especially when it's shown to be periodically traded higher. I've been buying in at these prices Huh Just traders getting cold feet? Flight to BTC pre fork? Or an attempt to devalue it and buy back in? Any opinions? I'm new to exchanges and trading so I'm probably missing something here.

i have at least 4 wallets though.. if most miners do as well thats around 1800 users. Seems accurate. We are growing and that is great. Once sanctuaries are live, marketing can ramp up. I have some pretty techy contacts in Christian orgs like Lifechurch in OK

great work Dev, 616 and Togo... all those involved.

Hi Mass,

Here is the latest version of the whitepaper:

http://pool.biblepay.org/Docs/BiblePay_White_Paper.pdf

It has to change slightly at Christmas for the f8000 enhancement.

I was wondering the same thing, but I see someone just jumped in and bought a lot.
Still trying to talk my wife into buying, shes a whale.  I think shes going to move the market when she buys.

(Its not that she doesnt like the idea, shes busy running her business).

Hi Ed,
That EVP_CIPHER_CTX is a constant in openssl.  Most likely your ubuntu box has an older version of openssl already on it so it is not preferring the new version.  We have been compiling with open ssl 101k.  Could you please try looking on this page:
https://github.com/biblepay/biblepay/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md

For the openssl dependency, re-apt-install it and then try compiling again?

Good luck.

Thanks, well although we have a lot of spinning plates right now and things are going well behind the scenes (F8000 is almost ready for testing in testnet, you can be awarded a colored coin in testnet, check your retirement balance, send 401k coins to yourself and book a trading order for retirement coins), a brand new idea has surfaced today that is very positive related to ecommerce and master-sanctuaries (Or God Nodes).  I will be going into detail with it soon to help forge its usefulness.

In the mean time, what is the general feeling about the term "God Node"?  Background: The sanctuaries are our brand of masternodes.  These allow us to be decentralized, and the sanctuary operators may vote on current issues to alleviate decisions from being made by biblepay-central (IE the community can run itself).  To provide more valuable features to the blockchain, I am planning on adding a hierarchical level above the sanctuary, for whale investors who happen to be highly technically savvy.  Right now, I think the requirement of the "whale" is something like 15 million BBP, and the whale would need to run a copy of the pool on a high power server (Kind of like if MinersForMen's background pool node staked 15 million escrow, then NSummy would be a God Node).  On a side note, the reason these requirements are forming, is because its starting to appear that the ecommerce/market making/and accountability site of biblepay-central may run on the chosen God Node.  Basically, the idea is our sanctuaries would run a DNS server, and become the phonebook to resolve outside HTTP traffic to the current God Node.  (The God Node is one node that is chosen by the sanctuaries as a "winner" to service HTTP traffic for one hour at a time).  Once DNS is updated, outside traffic coming in to accountability site would be routed to the God Node.  The God Node would also run a pool, simply because the God Node software would get synced in and auto-updated through the pool github code automatically as it changes, using the SFTP syncing system.  There is a huge
additional technological feature that Im going to describe in detail over the next week related to ecommerce that the God Node would facilitate, so the users from the command line could execute the commands.

I am wondering, is it wrong to call the chosen God Node a God Node?  Should it be a Master sanctuary?  Any better terms?  If its not blasphemous, we could call it a God Node.

The God Node puts up 10-15* the escrow as a normal sanctuary, but is remunerated at the same commensurate level (IE if escrow is 10*, the reward is 10*), so they technically dont get any better treatment than individual sanctuaries, but they give us the ability to run locked processes.  They also auto-update their code, whereas normal sanctuaries must upgrade.

I personally would prefer something like 'Master Sanctuary', but that's because I'm a bit reserved in using the word 'God'.
