So, my conclusion, a money printing entity accused of breaking USA AML/KYC rules will be of course back online, because they either pay the fine, implement the bully's rules or just simply ignore them.

I think they can only survive if they pay the fine and implement the AML/KYC (cut a deal with the USA). If they ignore them, their USD/EUR channels will all be cut off -- no banks can risk dealing with a company blacklisted for money laundering. Not sure about RUR. But they have real risk of bank account seizures. I don't see how this can sustain long term.

Even if they went Polo-style and removed fiat, only USDT for instance (I'm not sure how they can acquire that amount of USDT either), I don't see how they removed the target on their back from the USA authorities.

Of course all Russians are on btce, because it was only site in Russian with Russian support and high volume. Now, of course we must believe the USA fake news that every Russian is a hacker and not just there because of above fact

I can say you are pretty much uninformed

Or just deliberately spreading misinformation here since there is another "Russian" exchange out there. It is called Exmo, and they are located in Spain (if I'm not mistaken). They are not big but they have a very fast Russian support as well as Russian trollbox (if anyone cares), and, unsurprisingly, they don't have a whatever license they should have. I asked them about it today, but they didn't reply anything specific and just pointed me to their Terms and Conditions (I don't think that could count as a license). So they may well be next in line to be hijacked by the FBI tomorrow

Yeah looks like the domain is no longer controlled by btc-e...

Read here: https://krebsonsecurity.com/2013/05/reports-liberty-reserve-founder-arrested-site-shuttered/

When liberty reserve got shut down
Quote
"On Friday, the domain name servers for Libertyreserve.com were changed and pointed to ns1.sinkhole.shadowserver.org and ns2.sinkhole.shadowserver.org. Shadowserver is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that works to help Internet service providers and hosting firms eradicate malware infections and botnets located on their servers.

In computer security lexicon, a sinkhole is basically a way of redirecting malicious Internet traffic so that it can be captured and analyzed by experts and/or law enforcement officials."

Bullshit 99% ppl used BTC-e because it was fast, reliable and trustworthy!

Also 99% where not smugglers, thieves but just miners and investors which used it to trade

Yeah , and 99% used mega upload to share linux versions.
Why would people use btc-e when nobody really knew who the owners are where are the servers or by who it is run.

Because they didn't ask for papers.
Or because they enjoyed the trollbox in which case they really deserve what is happening.

What's the point of using bitcoins If I was to be asked for papers? Fuck this shit. I ain't doin that.

The only exchange I used the most till now was btc-e.com I used them for trading and I used them to mix my coins because I like to keep my addresses tidy and clean. No papers, everything was automated. Only 1 transaction, 1 input. If anybody asks, they came from btc-e Cheesy And there is nothing wrong with using them as a mixer. If mixing coins is illegal, USA should start with the mixing companies.

I expected something to happen though. I have fine instincts. Dodged mt.gox because I was too new to crypto, dodged cryptsy too because they had a shitty engine and they just collapsed a few months after I stopped using them. Been holding my coins in my desktop wallet almost since 2015 because people started make complaints on my favorite exchange, btc-e.com That was another sign. I too was seeing btc-e as the most reliable exchange ever existed. Everything was automated and I never had to contact the customer service.

But those complaints were clear signs to stay away. So I moved my coins there only to make trades and withdrew them as soon as I made it. Just to dodge this 3rd bullet. I guess It worked.

My strategy:

1-Always keep coins in a desktop wallet If I am thinking to make trades
2-Always keep coins in a paper wallet If willing to do no trades in the future
3-Never keep coins in an exchange more than a couple of days. Make the trade, withdraw.
*4-* Golden rule: Never ever do any FIAT trades. It chains you to the exchange. You won't be able to get away when you need to. Buy FIAT only when you really mean it.

Yes, the chance of getting online is now really low, however, it was very obvious that they'd taken the domain. This is how they operate.

I expected a big fat seizure page with a bald eagle logo. But I guess sometimes they do this instead. Cry

They must have been trying to goad BTC-E admins into trying to access the servers to give away their location, etc...

the domain isn't everything

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

Domain just redirects to server. The server is most important as long as people are informed of new server, there is chance.

I am wondering why they didn't do that a few days ago.

The US government loves it's god like ability to shutdown domains as if it's some kind of property they own.

the domain isn't everything

Sure, but previously there was some hope that some deal could be worked out with US authorities and fine paid (since usually otherwise, the Feds would announce seizure and put up a takedown page on btc-e domain).

Now it looks like, to me, that the authorities have been trying to goad the admins into doing something that will give away their servers, whereabouts, etc.
