On Friday there were about 22.000 securenodes. Today only about 20.500 and I looked for a steady decline but there was none. 1.500 just simply vanished.

Any explanation for this?

It looks like a concentrated transaction of a single whale.....don't like this.

looks like someone has dumbed it a lot.. you may be right that some whale did this. but we really can't do anything. even the project owner can't do anything (unless it's himself) they cannot stop traders and hodlers to not sell their coins. so this happens. we can just hope that it'll get pumped again.

Secure Node Server Update Complete

A consequence of this update is that the node counts on the home pages should remain accurate over time. There were some issues with some nodes not being cleared properly on the servers after a failover which inflated the count.

We believe ProgPOW is interesting. Our current focus is to deliver on our current roadmap (sidechains, treasury, blockDAG). We will obviously evaluate path forward on different technology options. We are excited for BlockDAG and it's possibility to enable egalitarian mining.

UH: What was the original inspiration behind forking ZenCash from Zclassic?

RV: I joined Zclassic because I was fascinated…completely fascinated with zk-SNARKS, you know the zero-knowledge cryptography applied into cryptocurrencies. I thought it was mathematically extremely elegant. I thought, “This is the future of privacy.”

Zclassic was a project with a very narrow mandate. The mandate was essentially to mimic Zcash. Going to ZenCash, we realized that there was so much more that we want to do, but we don’t want to hijack [Zclassic] because the project has value. But [Zclassic] also has value within some very narrow mandate. We want to do so much more. We want to decentralize everything—the governance, the treasury. We want to create a treasury actually! We wanted to take the technology in a completely different direction, looking at sidechains for scalability, on-chain scalability with a block DAG. You know, there was so much that we wanted to do that we had no right to do within the Zclassic mandate.
