James Dale Davidson in his book "Independent Personality", published in 1999, predicted the emergence of crypto-currencies:

"The information age in which we live suggests a revolution in the nature of money. The emergence of cybercommerce inevitably leads to the emergence of cyber-money. This new form of money will reset the starting conditions for all states in the world. Perhaps, some countries will yield to other countries the dominant roles in the world arena. An important part of the coming changes will be the liberation from the power of the banking lobby, which has earned huge wealth due to the predatory mechanism of inflation. Soon almost every transaction you make will happen through cyber-money. "

I believe in these predictions and am fully confident that the future is behind the digital currency. It's unavoidable.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I don't think so. If it stays so volatile it would simply crash for a currency to be consistent it should be denanded means that people should always demand it and bitcoin is but it should be stable too means it doesnt go up and down a lot and in a short period of time this thing isn't actually what bitcoin is. The changes are so big that no one can reply on it. Bitcoin will survive for a period of time but not for so long.

I am asking this just to see the different opinions of Bitcoin community about its long term potential

I know Bitcoin is actually strong enough and stable as well

But what do you think about it after 100 years ?
As to what we've all seen this past few years, bitcoin was able to surpass all the obstacles it has faced regardless of how heavy or light it is. Many people thought that bitcoin would not make it this far but they were wrong. I don't think bitcoin would only last after 100 years instead I think it would be legalized and it will end up being part of our lives which will give convenience to many.

Of course it will surely survive. As what i've seen it is becoming more and more stable that's why I am sure that it will survive after 100 years.

100 years is quite a long time to speculate about but since bitcoin is ever halving every now and then it can certainly keep increasing in demand and this will make it stay around for a long time because the demand will ensure its consistent growth in value.

As time goes on and coins are lost due to whatever reason including dust accounts, with the block 'halving', there will be more coin in circulation - 100 years is a long time away but we are just at the start of the journey.

I do not think Bitcoin is even 10 years old now. To think about whether there will be 100 years is a waste of time in my opinion. The development of the crypto world is always fast and innovative. Maybe there will soon be a new development that will replace crypto currency as we know it today. In 2006 no one thought that there could be a decentralized currency without a central bank or central manager. We must think impossible.

For me there is no impossible, all the impossible will be possible even Bitcoin is, it will last long until more than one hundred years and more people will spread the news and knowledge to support this kind of currency. The people who will get that knowledge will realized that its so helpful to them they will live a life with a purpose and do something great with the use Bitcoin. If I will be a parent in the near future I will pass it to my sons and daughters which they will inherit my knowledge to know the crypto world and crypto market, because into myself that it will helps them  like it did to me.
We’ll probably have a new kind of BITCOIN by then as in the existing BITCOIN upgraded to stay relevant in those times

In theory, it's impossible, but 100 years is too long, we're all dead, and no one can see that bitcoin exists.

There are two possibilities I think will happen after 100 years. First is if there's no change in our technology or no new technology that will affect the cryptos then bitcoin will still exist. Second is there's a big change and there's a new invention affecting cryptos, i think bitcoin will be no longer exist.
100 years is a long af time to predict though, like 100 years no one thought USD will be this huge

We've all seen bitcoin on its ups and down but still it is still existing and fighting over the obstacles it is facing along the way. The possibility that bitcoin would survive after 100 year is still increasing and will keep on increasing as long as the demand keeps on getting higher and we keep on supporting it on everything. Let us keep our hopes high on this and it will surely bless us more.

I don't think any one can say future of 100years about crypto. because anything can be happen. yes I can say this one day Bitcoin will rule the global market. If you asked about 10-20 years than it can be cross $100-500k or it can be stay stable at any other less price.

It is almost impossible to survive for such system. It was securely built but it is not such long term cryptocurrency. As much as people start use bitcoin for their operation as much it become expensive and ineffective. I think bitcoin will not disappear at all, but it would be as gold right now, valuable but not liquid.

Yeah, definitely yes. Although bitcoin is the oldest cryptocurrency today it is still new and fresh to all of us. How will bitcoin survive? Lets just develop and innovate it and donate to the developers so that they can have a budget for some research etc.

I don't think it will last 145 years from now . Maybe 20 -30 years at least. It s a strong currency but not as strong like the others to least that many years.

In my own prediction bitcoin cannot live like a true bitcoin. What i mean is bitcoin can be live but the price can be shitcoin. Too many alt coins released and specially ethereum can be a next bitcoin and it has a high chance.  We can see that bitcoin can live because of it is the first crypto that being famous and why all started about.

Probably there will be other cryptocurrency that will come to the market and replace Bitcoin in many years (let us say, a hundred of years). Blockchain technology will sure exist and it will be used widely.

Bitcoin is hard to predict 100 years from now.

But I think bitcoin will survive 100 years, because bitcoin is a digital currency, a trend for future currency development.
