I'm using the nodes off of https://novaexchange.com/addnodes/ANC/ and have 4 active connections (clearnet) however my blockchain is not catching up. This is on a fresh install. I hear I2P seems to be working better and maybe this is what I need to do to get it to work but is there any reason why clearnet shouldn't be downloading the blockchain even with 4 peers?
Clearnet will work, but you have to install the bootstrap file or you'll be waiting days for the block chain to sync. The bootstrap brings it down to hours to sync. https://wiki.anoncoin.net/How_to_use_a_bootstrap_file_to_speed_up_initial_synchronization#For_Windows_users
Thank you it's catching up now!!!!
So it seems the bootstrap helped get me about a 1/4 of the way caught up but now I'm stuck at 2 years and 15 weeks behind. At this point I'm not sure what to do, switch over to I2P??

No need. It will complete on clearnet. I left mine to complete overnight,  and by the morning it was complete. Stop screen timeout /saver. Try it again. It should work

Hello,

i have a very confusing situation. i always thought how much coins a wallet hold depend on the key of that wallet
and if you copy the wallet(recieving key) it should be the same amount after the sync.

I made some 5 backups in the past of one wallet but now i have 5 different balances ?
Lets say(wallet backups1-5 all have the same recieving adress)
10 + 20 + 30 +40 + 100 coins.
(10anc was first back up 100anc the last)

it seems that if i move the highest balance then the other coins should vanish(so i would have only 100)?
or do i have 10 + 20 + 30+40 +100 = 200 coins in total? that would be great xD

dont just swap wallets around in the .anoncoin folder. use multiple instance (use -datadir to point to another directory).

also you can use coin control, eliminating the need for multiple wallets.

Edit:

ok now it gets more confusing i cant use the coins because the error message says they might already spend in another wallet.
But why are they still in that wallet and dont vanish?

how can i fix that copy wallet to get up to date?
(assuming i dont have the original anymore due hardware crash)

i posted a line which you have to add to see the real balance. if you use a current master build (you arent!) then this wouldnt be a issue aswell.

Hi guys,

It's been a long time I visited this thread -- I even managed to loose my login information. Anyway, nice to see some familiar faces in here, hopefully the development of anoncoin will continue, it is a great and rare coin. Great to see some activity - keep up the good work.

Best,

Clearnet will work, but you have to install the bootstrap file or you'll be waiting days for the block chain to sync. The bootstrap brings it down to hours to sync. https://wiki.anoncoin.net/How_to_use_a_bootstrap_file_to_speed_up_initial_synchronization#For_Windows_users

Hi,

Just to remember you: Anoncoin 0.9.6.13 is a fork of bitcoin 0.10.99 so there is included lots of improvement in particular header first synchronisation.

- Many excellent improvements such as for instance header-first synchronisation, leading to much quicker I2P synchronisation and block download

This is much quicker to synchronize, especially over I2P, but this is done by first downloading headers from 2 peers and THEN blocks from all peers 8+

Synching online, the block number bar will not increase before all headers are downloaded, so this is normal behaviour. When synching from bootstrap however, the block number bar will increase because both header and block are synched in parallel from the bootstrap.

AnonCoin blockchain, freshly synced, is available for download at CryptoChainer.com.  This snapshot is from the new wallet.  This is a very old coin, and takes nearly forever to sync from scratch.

It may have been the case the blockchain was slow to synch on 0.8.5.6, but with this new client 0.9.6.11 featuring Headers-first synchronisation it is much more quick! Smiley

Here is a test I did today:

21h50: start a freshly installed Anoncoin 0.9.6.11 64 bit with no blockchain and no bootstrap.dat, on a win7 laptop

21h50-23h30: Synchronisation of the block-headers takes 1h40 (see the first part of the graph, with smallest bandwidth).
It may seems the client is doing nothing as the blocks increment slowly, but the progress can be followed by checking the bandwidth use or by typing 'getchaintips' in the debug console.

23h30: begin block download from 16 peers in parallel (the blocks increment quickly and bandwidth increase alot). Header-first synchronisation as adapted in Anoncoin 0.9.6.11 download the headers from 2 peers in parallel but the blocks from all the peers, here from 16 peers which is the max outbound connections possible.

1h30: Anoncoin 0.9.6.11 was fully synched after 3h40 and 506 MB.

So if you want to know how far your wallet has synched just type in debug 'getchaintips', and after the headers have synched the blocks will increase.

Ysell - I will read the Zerocoin info you suggested. If I get my coins back, I have no intention of selling them. I think we (as a community) can still get this project on the road. I was wondering if we should all contact Cryptoslave and offer our help and individual skills to save the project. I understand that the main skills they need at the moment are people that can code? Unfortunately, that is a skills I don't have. However, I can offer other skills like maintaining the twitter/facebook account, research, writing articles, etc.

I think at this early stage anything anyone can do will help. I, like many others on here will offer support if I can. I can juggle the forum when I'm out and about working. I can't login via i2p when I'm out and update the community on latest development chats . I think being able to update the community outside of i2p would be great. It would be incredible if Anoncoin community were to vote on certain jobs, paying with Anoncoin for completion, for example "Zerocoin implementation".

Yes, I agree everybody is welcome to join for contribution! Anoncoin is an open source project and we are very happy to have more people involved!

Ysell - I agree with you in relation to the community sharing some of the jobs to publicise Anoncoin. I wouldn't mind helping you with forums, twitter, facebook, etc.

X68N - I sent the coins I bought today to my wallet. I only trade other coins and mine Zcash and ETC. Anoncoin for me is hopefully a long-term bet that will pay off. It has all the attributes to succeed. It just needs more developers 100% committed to help Cryptoslave.

Cryptoslave - Do you think crowd-funding could be the solution to get the resources you need to keep this project going?

Yes, definitelly! But what incentive to use for people to crowdfund do you think?

Hi Geekz!

Yes #anoncoin #anoncoin-dev #anci2pd on IRC2P are all active (but as you know sometimes you need to stay connected several hours to get the answer), we check from time to time unless we are presently chatting.

Yes, the windows wallet are build but not on github and I have not access to my build computer right now. The new anci2pd is build too, but all those builds will be published for windows next week. Linux user can build 9.6.13 from master already.

Hey so I'm not quite sure what you guys changed but going from 9.6.11 to 9.6.12 on Windows 7 is finally allowing my wallet to catch up. Previously I could only get it to about 2 years 15 weeks ago before it would stop and I would only see 3 connections (and they weren't sending me data). Now I have a bunch of connections and the wallet should be done syncing in the next hour or so! (edit: blockchain sync complete)

Looks like exchanges shouldn't have trouble bringing ANC markets back online now  Smiley

On another note I'm trying to compile the newest wallet on my Raspberry Pi 3 but encountering some errors when making the depends folder. It appears autogen.sh thinks my processor is "armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf" which causes errors later on with building boost and ssl. I was able to get it past boost by manually going in and changing some of the commands (armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf-g++ is not a command but arm-linux-gnueabihf-g++ works). Any idea how to fix this? Should I tweak something in autogen.sh to try and force the "triplet" as arm-linux-gnueabihf? If so, any idea where in the file would be best to set this?

Thanks!

Do you have news from YoBit and the Coin adding process?

Why would you want Yobit.net

They are a fraudulent exchange
https://cointelegraph.com/news/cryptocurrency-exchange-yobit-investigated-in-russia-on-fraud-claims

https://siliconangle.com/blog/2016/02/28/problems-with-withdrawals-support-reported-at-bitcoin-altcoin-exchange-yobit/

Search on bitcointalk.org for Yobit.net and you'll get endless people saying how fraudulent they are. Are you seriously considering using this exchange?

If you are, I think you're nuts or an owner of Yobit.net rubbing hands together

Hi All,

I'm a software developer with decent skills and experience and some C/C++ experience. I'm happy to see a renewed interest in Anoncoin and I want to contribute to the development of Anoncoin.
What is the best place to discuss what are the needs of this project and the plans going forward?

hey ysell why the personal attack? i did not insult you so there is no need to speak on low level Wink

you should think twice before dropping a hot headed comment to a "hero member"  Cheesy i am on the train since 2013.
I mostly invest and trade coins, i have no need for a scam business.

These scam news might just a bloated story of a short malfunction. They are pretty old threads of 1,5years in the past and only from the Waves developpers which might be biased. For example Yobit is not delisted on Coinmarketcap.
Exchanges put wallets on maintainence and have DDos issues, govements throwing stick between their legs and scammers and other enemies like fake bloggers spreading panic.
I experienced Mt.gox and Cryptsy fail, so i know the difference between a short service interruption and collaps Wink.

I just had written my experiences that i traded the last 20 days several BTC of volume in different coins and had no problems with deposit or withdraw.
There was 2x a wallet lag on a small coin which was fixed by the support in 1x 1 day and 1x in 1,5 days.(in 20 days, traded 8 different cointypes)
I So i asked you about your issues.

I came up with Yobit for ANC since their exchange profile fits very well and the listing fee of 0,1btc is affordable.
