A proposal on how to restore anc.

First people need to acknowledge the real problem. Anc has been hijacked by the nsa. They have been setting up a scenario in which the anc algo could be switched to cryptonote and people would welcome it. That has been derailed. Cryptonote is being exposed shortly and will not be viable.

Second people need to identify what gives value to a coin. It is not the algo, not the devs, not the hype. Coins now succeed only by causing partisan sentiment, appealing to some political interest. Unfortunately when you pick your political side you are also picking your enemy. If you are the dog party you must compete with the cat party, etc.

The most forward way to pick a strong politic is to pick a strong enemy and quickly take the lead in being identified there.

As someone said earlier the radical politics of the middle east are the surest developing strong enemy. Isis will have a coin soon. It will reach usd1b quicjly and long before most other coins.

To create a competitor for that coin a person only has to look at the sentiment in Tunisia, Libya, Syria and find a politic that matches the growing sentiment there in potential appeal. The anonymous movement guy falkes or whatever is one of very few social forces that can easily match that.

So if anc wants to thrive it must first ditch the nsa pollution and then resurrect the anonymous collective association.

If somebody wants to play chickenshit games I will be more than happy to start tagging specific bitcointalk profiles as nsa shills. That game is dead. Bury it.

Look at this:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=846866.0

While you all are discussing philosophy, the NSA,, etc. little Pandacoin (with no anon features at all) looks like it has become the first crypto with real world use.  Who would have guessed? I guess people buying a cup of coffee or renting jet-skis on the Black Sea don't care who knows they're doing it.

Try harder.

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

You are not somebody.

You are a fart bubble slowly rising in a crowded pool.

The nsa has doubled down on cryptonote in the last week but they made yet another big mistake.

What kind of test does a moron have to fail to join that gang?

Many dozens of bitcointalk shill profiles on Monero, Bytecoin and a few on Anoncoin.

Fumsy clucks are protecting national security? The 3 stooges weren't available?

Does someone using some of those 'legendary' and 'hero' profiles want to see where they fuctup?

Yeah, curious to know how they set the initial parameters.
No one will buy that shit if they can't proof that it's trustless.

Not yet tested it.

I think that the need for this trustless proof is a classic dilemma : You wont trust them until it's all opensource and it would copied like crazy the moment it is !

The premine seems to be another reason for a generalized suspicion........ but atleast on of the devs have credible legitimacy and that sort of is  reassuring IMHO.....

All said and done it would not hurt to keep an eye on it before summarily rejecting it , afterall what they intend to offer there is what we are seeking here.

How about some level of moderation for this thread?

Are you not concerned about these things?

1. K1773R is still blaming the transaction problem on cryptsy.  There have been bugs found in the anoncoin code and cryptsy is compiling from source.  Other exchanges and even desktop qt clients are having the same problem as cryptsy.  So this can't be a cryptsy problem.  I would really like if the devs would work on this problem seeing as a cryptocurrency with transaction problems is obviously really bad.  What are the devs doing to fix this? We need anoncoin back on exchanges asap.

K1773R is in agreement that we should switch to the 0.9.3 codebase.

2. Meeh has been working on myriad auxPoW for the past month but recently asked what myriad auxPoW is.  Since he can't develop something he doesn't know about what has he been doing? An update on the supposed "imminent" hardfork would be great.  The sooner this hardfork happens the sooner anoncoin can fix the difficulty issue.

3. Anoncoin code is still based on bitcoin 0.8.6 which is almost a year old at this point.  Why hasn't the anoncoin code been updated? Bitcoin is currently on 0.9.3 and there have 4 updates in between 0.8.6 and 0.9.3.  Why has anoncoin missed all 4 updates?  Gnosis recently posted that meeh was working on updating the code to 0.9.3 but that concerns me because meeh was also supposed to be working on myriad auxPoW but seems to not be doing too well with that either.

Meeh definitely knows what myriad is, so this was probably a misunderstanding. Anyway, I am doing the porting to 0.9.3 and adding a replacement for KGW. Our faulty difficulty algorithm is a major contributor to block difficulty oscillation. After all this is released, either myself or another developer (probably not meeh) will work on myriad auxpow. Meeh seems to be extremely busy with his job these past weeks, but we are capable of doing this without him.

4. This conversation with ian miers of zerocash is also troubling.  He doesn't seem to think our RSA UFO's are strong enough.  https://twitter.com/secparam/status/449576116161089537

He doesn't seem to get it. Maybe Twitter is the wrong medium for such conversations.

It appears that he thinks an n-bit random integer has a 100% probability of being factored in T time by an attacker (in other words, he thinks there's no variation in time to factor). This is definitely not the case. Also, if it was the case, then the Sander UFO construction would not be secure.

Thank you Gnosis for explaining everything and for all your hard work on anoncoin! This really helped settle my concerns

Is zerovert claiming to already have zerocoin implemented or that they are about to soon? I'm hesitant to believe them since anoncoin has been working on it for a while and zerovert just popped up out of nowhere.  Does anyone have any information about them?

To save some time and money for people interested in anonymous currency I will reiterate what has already been pointed out.

To create socalled trustless anonymity no external keys are needed. A conventional wallet can generate 4 keys and from that alone anonymity can be derived that will be a function of time. One wallet will need two protocols and any coins can be switched seemlessly between them. Until you see that do not bet too much.

Of course there are malignant players who want to control currencies. It has always been like that. "We are the good guys. You can trust us to responsibly control your currency, surveil responsibly, only kill bad people blah blah blah".

Until populations are educated sufficiently that bad actors in government cannot survive people must be careful.

Everyone has good intentions. They want to stop drugs, stop terrorism, promote freedom, stop orphan bonobos from starving, save the planet from tyranny, whatever the excuse de jour is.

Until you see an open source trustless anonymity generated from within a conventional wallet using its own keys be wary of the shit being pumped whole chunk into the cryptosphere.
