Pressure really does make diamonds.

If people could do this because of the desperate need to make the Antminer D3 profitable. I wonder if it can also be done to make the Antminer S9 or any other antminer profitable. A simple decrease in power consumption to the S9 would make it loads more profitable. Esp. for large mining farms. If you know of any such tweak to the same or similar to an Antminer i am sure the bitcoin community would be very much grateful.

This is hearsay, but I just heard from a friend who is waiting for 3 D3's that his client ordered, (December batch as far as I know) that after they contacted Bitmain complaining about the D 3 situation, Bitmain offered too keep their money in credit and they can then order other machines next year when available and only pay the difference, if there is any.

He will send me the mail from Bitmain as soon as he receives it from his client.

As I said this is hearsay at the moment.

I've adressed bitmain with the same request, but they didn't accepted my complain...I did it 1,5 weeks ago.... Undecided
I did the same and no luck this was the answer
My mail:
Good morning ... I ordered 3 D3 and I will receive it late in november... I have a question Do you planning to launch a newer version of the antminer d3 in the next months? If the answer is yes Is there a possibility to cancel the purchase that I did for the 3 D3 and use that amount of uds ($4695) to buy the possible amount of new version equipments depending of which will be the price of the new version? Thanks
Bitmain responce:
We regret that we cannot fulfill your request. When an order is paid it is final. We cannot cancel orders, change the product or provide refunds. We make this clear in the Product page and advise customers to consider carefully before placing the order:

I get this error when trying to flash the latest firmware from OP "tar: invalid magic tar: short read". All I did was download the .tar and follow instructions. Please check compile.

strange.. did you unpack something already? You shouldn't do that. Maybe try to download it again an retry. If it doesn't work, let me know so I can help you remotely if you want.

All set, nothing unpacked, seems a random missing byte from the download or something. After downloading again it took the new firmware you made.

Listen I know it's all anyone's been asking (mostly) but it's not bullshit. If you get the 11 algo's split out of this thing you will be a mining hero. Right now the dev fee is a bit overkill even with the current mods, with the 11 algo separated for additional mining.... This would be the best thing to ever happen to this terrible investment.  (not including Dash and BTC both going up 9000%).

I'll be rooting for you on this. Wink

I'm paying you fees now on 13 machines...2 didnt like the upgrade even after 15 restarts still missing boards according to the screen.

It is an ASIC

Application SPECIFIC Integrated Circut... It can't do more than one algo. Just look at the chips.

This is NOT a FPGA Field Programmable Gate Array. Those can be reprogrammed for multiple algorithms.

Where is default webpage in source codes ? which source codes should i look ? is it located in "cgminer-dash-master" source codes ?
As i understand  antminer's main board is a beagleboard black and , so as i understand cgminer should be just an application on it.
And firmware source belongs to the just cgminer , is this correct ?
To add new menu web page we need to modify beaglebone black firmware to modify web pages which belongs to gui ?

unpack firmware from Antminer-D3-201709131713-0M.tar -> initramfs.bin.SD -> Angstrom-antminer_m-eglibc-ipk-v2013.06-beaglebone.rootfs.cpio -> to any folder (WinRAR FarManager help you. press ctrl+PageDown on files for enter it as archive, then F5 for copy to any disk/folder you need.)
and see \www\pages\ for all web pages of firmware.

x11 algo include.... Eleven algos! With a custom firmware might be possible mining of one of these algo that are more profitable than x11

It is an x11 miner no shit it is included it is the only algorithm it can mine... because it is the only hashes it is able to solve.

@taserz

Maybe the way dndssc said it confused you, what he meant is that the X11 algorithm is made of 11 different algos chained together (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, and echo.), so all these algorithms are in fact present in the original Antminer D3 - X11 software.
The idea is to try and make the D3 use any of the X11 algos individually, like only using "Groestl" for example. Whether this is possible, depends on the way the software and the ASICS are built.
