Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

there will be a story dedicated entirely to Florin on Cryptonerd.co over the course of the weekend. It'snot finalized yet, but the idea is taking shape Smiley

Did this ever happen or when will it happen?

Unfinished thought, maybe another bounty?  but I would like to see a multi partition wallet db. authentication on one partition of wallet, ie savings, and checking...? Where "savings.db" uses 2 part authentication and passphrase and Checking is as it works how it is currently? The savings portion would be nice to have it automaticly go to a google drive. Basicly a way to not use a cold storage wallet to feel safer... I would also like wallet.db to be named something other than wallet since malware is targeting this file name on all coins...

**********Community BOUNTY ***********
Another Feature request I2P support: support TOR via the SOCKS protocol. We should integrate the functionality to have both I2P and onion (TOR) nodes to connect to. If it is implemented correctly it would make each user anonymous. IMO all coins should have this..

In my research Bit coin attempted this here is a link the the bitcoin i2p project: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=151181.0

This coupled with my 1st bounty would be very attractive to many people...

This is the bounty BTC address for this feature:  1CoqpdiyM5emqYFVq4T4e6XUskM7eQ4ciE
All funds are publically viewable on the blockchain so that you can see how much we have raised. Additionally, I have deposited .1 btc to this wallet to start off the fundraiser.

Bounty will be paid once the wallet and all functionality is reviewed and published by Skyangel.

http://colorcoin.org

Open Source Color Coin implementation coming to Florin on Oct 1st.

Check back in this thread for more info over the weekend.

For those who are familiar with the types of color coin implementations, this one will be of the distributed-ledger account-based variety. It does not require destruction of Florin or any commit-coin crypto magic nor does it require hiding data in the transaction script which is a dangerous thing to do for many reasons.

You'll be able to make and trade color coins on colorcoin.org or simply through the satoshi/skyangel version of the Florin client itself with no modifications.

The pool is finally back up.

Please note the addresses listed.

http://flo.smalltimeminer.com this is the pool you want.

The temporary pool I set up can now be found at http://flo2.smalltimeminer.com for a day or two until the balances are paid out and it will be closed thereafter. I will leave the stratum server up for a little while but expect it to be disabled within the next few hours.

These pools are really starting to piss me off.  Every other night I wake up to find my miners where shut down half way through.  I'm done mining at your pool.

Eh, can't say I blame you, why wouldn't you have a backup in place? nobody is more frustrated than I am right now, that's what I get for trying to improve the pool I guess, the pools efficiency has increased about 30% on the new server, but its up time has been less than sub-par.

Thanks stink -- in actuality, my color coin implementation is more like that of Mastercoin's. However, I think Florin provides some functionality that is an improvement upon both color coin implementations in the Bitcoin blockchain.

I'll open up my site tomorrow for beta testers, I hope to bring some unique use-cases to Florin.

Multipool is killing mining on Florin I noticed REDcoin seems to survive pretty well with its 20 block retarget.... have you explored any ways to combat the multipools?

Could we simply make newly minted coins have a confirmation time of greater than 90 confirmations (ie 120) so they have to keep mining to get paid out? Red uses 50 confirmations for minted blocks and 6 for transactions.. I would think this option would be very easy to implement
I think this would deter them because if they spike the dif... they have wait days o get paid out... thus they will give up pointing @ flo because it would frustrate them...

Setting up the minting to a high number would not impact investors, as they know they will get thier coins.... To the multipools they might mine and leave sticking the diff up high, but if they had to wait 1 week when the price might have decreased it would not be as attractive to them...

Is there any overhead to increasing the minted blocks to 50-135?  (135 would be 1/2 a retarget...)

The difficulty adjustment algorithm is set to change at block 208440.

Previous algorithm adjusted every 90 blocks, new algorithm adjusts every 15 blocks.

All other parameters remain unchanged.

Please update your clients as soon as possible. Links updated in first post.
