Megacoin added here: http://www.lurkmore.com/wiki/Cryptocurrency_information_and_wallet_client_downloads

By the way, the sigma (Σ) is an S. An epsilon, which is what you'd be looking for, looks the same as an E.

Cool site, thanks

Σ is the capital letter sigma (Greek)

I also found a site that sells heavy cotton, fleece lined, zip front hoodies and they will do an embroidered Megacoin logo. If enough people want one it might be worth making a bulk order.

I'd definitely take a few -- let me know.

I have been talking to a rep at Branders.com, but plan on getting some quotes from other vendors. Currently the cost on the Hoodie is about $34 plus shipping with a minimum order of 12. I am also looking into some high quality winter jackets that compare to the North Face Denali. Cost on these looks to be about $120 (the real Denali would be around $200), also with a minimum order of 12.  Possibly some baseball caps too (which would be either black and red, or white, NOT yellow as shown). If enough people are interested...

Very cool - put me down for a couple of hoodies.

looks great!!

if it's a 100 MΣC coin then it would be worth the same as a hundred dollar bill once 1 MΣC = 1 USD, which will happen.

so I'm wondering, how is a physical coin going to work.. is it backed by the amount of MΣC in one particular account? if one of the physical coins gets destroyed, what would happen to the corresponding value in that account? and will there be a danger that a coin made now might be duplicated, counterfeited in the future?

thanks MobGod, great work! thanks everyone for all the megacoin projects going on!

Good question here is my thinking each coin will have it's own number for example only 200 made 000-200 has me being the seller I would keep a list safe offline so if a coin did get destroyed I would still be able to send the buyer the amount of coins put on the coin if that makes sense to you.

well, here are my thoughts:

assuming the coins won't get counterfeited, I suggest there should be a MΣC account (or several) specifically designated just to hold the MΣC of all outlying coins in circulation. you (or a trusted banker that won't EVER inflate the currency) would issue physical coins in exchange for MΣC transfers into the account. only an un-damaged physical coin can be redeemed for its value in MΣC from that account.

so, if a physical coin gets destroyed, the value should just be gone, no longer owned by anyone. the bank should never give out or spend the extra MΣC that was lost, it should just sit there in the account. otherwise someone could say they lost their coin to get paid back, but someone else might find the coin and also try to redeem it. physical coins need to be directly associated with their real MΣC value, never inflated.

the problem, though, is most bankers are greedy and untrustworthy. whoever controls the MΣC account would eventually be in control of a lot of money, and it would be a disaster if the account got robbed.

MEC supporters once again showing that they don't understand a lick about cryptocurrency. Cheesy

Phyiscal coins are printed with a private key on them that contains the amount of coins in question.

Said the guy who thinks if you convert bitcoin to scrypt it makes it litecoin.

One guy represents the entire megacoin community eh?  Why aren't you capable of being rational?

If you call megacoin "bitcoin with scrypt" you have just described litecoin. Idiot.

Go look at the change logs for both litecoin and bitcoin versions and get back to me.   Why do they have different change logs and features?  Oh because they aren't the same coin.  Of course I already explained this in the post I made that you keep censored off your site.  I'm done responding to you now because you've already proved your incapable of a rational discussion.

oh really? wouldn't that allow someone to withdraw the value, making the coin worthless? then what's the point of going to the trouble of creating a physical coin, if as soon as someone withdraws that value the physical coin becomes disposable?

Oh looks who's come to shit up the thread.. hazard and friend.

Physical coin being just another way to hoard some MEC, it is open to some disadvantages, lost, breakdown, destroyed etc. but so is escrow/wallet/brainfart.

MEC supporters wanting a way to show support as usual (shirts, hoodies, hats, jackets, physical coin).

Naysayers coming in to kick the hornets nest and piss from the sidelines, nothing different unfortunately.

How much do the coins cost?

It's hidden behind a tamper-proof sticker.

And physical coins are for novelty anyway.

I like the idea of having the code laser cut into the edge. There is no reason why a protective coating couldn't be applied over the code to show it hasn't been used. I also like the design presented by MobGod, but would like to see a 1 MΣC silver coin about the size of a quarter, and 10 MΣC coin the size of a silver dollar. There is no reason larger denominations like the 100 MΣC, 500 MΣC, and 1000 MΣC can't be minted too, but the smaller ones would be a good starting place to help set MΣC's value.

Also interested in the cost of these coins?

By the way guys, I've been pushing mcxNOW to add Megacoin for the past couple of days. There seems to be a legitimate interest among the users in added MEC, but RealSolid seems adamantly against it and ultimately it is up to him whether to add it to the exchange or not.

I think, however, if we organize a concentrated effort to try and show that there is legitimate demand for the coin to be traded on an exchange that is more stable and reliable than Cryptsy, that perhaps our demands will be met. Maybe we should think of getting a campaign going to get MEC listed on mcxNOW instead of btc-e. I think we might have a better chance of breaking in there.

What do you guys think?

Hence why I said they're for novelty.
This doesn't mean there is no room for improvement for the concept, and we should give up without discussing it further.
