I think we'll see 1500 by Summer.

Hopefully $1500 by March.  Some charts say we are undervalued right now and should even be around $2000 in March but we will see.

I do have faith in bitcoin, but I don't think the price will be doubled in just 2 months.

Guess it has been and gone!

Yup, it did get over $1000.
And this thread was created back in June, and btc price reached $1000 just 5 months later (BitStamp price) Tongue

Do we need to change this thread title to $1500? Or, will it ever reach $1000 again?

No worries.
People have already made a thread for $10,000 back in Dec. Cheesy

it's really a mystery what will happen. If goverments will start to control bitcoin like they do with fiat currencies, or ban it entirely, the price may acctually drop. I really hope this doesn't happen.

On the other hand I would really prefer if the price of bitcoin stopped at what it ist now. The variability in BTC price is really bad, `cause services are affraid to accept it as a currency, as it is risky. Little more stability would really help bitcoin to be widely accepted imho.

I agree, but how exactly would they do this?

I think the bitcoin economy could self regulate in terms of blacklisting stolen coins etc if there's a concensus on what a stolen coin looks like and it's verifiable, but I don't see how the governments can control it. Cash, for example, is preferred by criminals for a reason. It's untraceable. It's not impossible to trace a bitcoin transaction to a person, but it's not easy as far as I know.

If the government moves to remove the anonymity of bitcoin somehow, that will probably affect things. Not sure how they would do that though. Especially if you have an offline wallet.

I'm not so sure. I think there are loads of things that could happen. BTC is really starting to gain traction now and there are more places everyday that are accepting it. There's a couple of places in my city now that take BTC and one takes Litecoin too.

I think it will change, but the question is by how much!

I think in the next few years Bitcoin will reach it's peak and will shortly be forgotten about as more people cash out.
