A few more notes on the youtube video. These notes are not an endorsement.

The driver returning results is BA1.
Results come from three different BA1 devices - 0, 1, and 2, presumably the 3 boards.
Chip numbers as high as 62 are reported, so at minimum there are 3*62 (or 63) = 186 or 189 chips per tube.
(Claimed DM8575 hashrate is 85GH/s/chip; 16TH/85GH = 189 chips)

The elapsed time displayed on the watt meter is 11h18m45s; the slush hashrate graph shows activity from about 22:35 to the end at 9:05, about 10h30m.

The timestamps in the log are consistent with the end time on the slush hashrate graph.

Honestly, this looks like they are trying to ride a scam with fake-DragonMint miner, which is most likely actually a S9.

I want some detailed pictures about the hash boards, controller board and a reliable review by a trusted forum member here, before I believe anything.

I am ready to help all of us. Just give me the unit for testing. ))

Another way to get credibility is if they are using cgminer or software based on its code is check with
@-ck or @kano and see  if either of them have had any dealings with the manufacturer.

Of course it could be some other code or a home grown mining application.

I have asked the developer to send a few units out to independent and trusted sources for testing and reviewing, if they ever do, it will be the best choice that company can make, if they don't, what are they hiding?

no multi-million business would refuse positive feedback from the people that matter COUSTOMERS!

In the "real world", anyone in their right mind would not send $'000s of money via a method of payment that has absolutely zero recourse or chance to reclaim, to a brand new website that:

existed just for a couple of days
has ZERO contact information
does not have a registered address visible
has never released a single product before


For some reason, people involved in BTC put on a blindfold in the slim chance of getting a miner! Yet everybody knows there is a huge number of scams.

For the potential $3mio they have collected in pre-orders already, I could buy 2 S9's, mash them together to eek out 16 THS, add a sticker to the side of the casing with any company name i wanted. I could then show this to a few people who then vouch for the machine. I then create a fairly basic website for just a few hundred bucks.

The website looks so cheap. How could you invest money in an product which has the best performance on the market and promote it on a shitty website.
Even the order page looks like a amateur work of 30 min.

Bitmain is offering as well to pay the amount in fiat money and they show how they did it.
With DragonMint you have no information at all.

I for one would NEVER trust anything read in a crypto blog.
If someone does a detailed hands-on review of it with pictures, etc -- maybe.
Fact is most crypto 'news' sites are simply pay-for-placement PR sites and have nothing to do with real reviews or facts.

I will be getting one to review, take pictures, etc....  Stay tuned.

I have seen this, but forgot to inform people here.. Anyway hopefull that "new company" will do better and less shady start then the Dragonmint... Just the fact that their batch of 3m sold out...it scares me... Plus you have to wait a lot(almost 5 months). And we don't know will they able to send/produce everything on time. Time will tell. They could have approached to some members of this forum, or something else like  @NotFuzzyWarm said.

Well i've seen Samson Mow and Adam Back saying that the DragonMint is legit and not some overclocked antminer, they got their own chip design. btcdrak is an old school bitcoiner, I think he used to post here and he is very rich, enough to get projects like this going. Hopefully Bitmain's monopoly can be defeated.

With all the money going into R&D, I also think it's likely that no one is going to be able to squeeze any meaningful efficiency increases out of the current ASIC form factor before the next generation of gear becomes available. At least not in gear that will be made available to small miners like you and me.

Back in June we ordered a fairly big batch of 13.5TH S9's from Bitmain for Sept delivery. At that time they were selling them for $1113ea. That was $82.4 per TH. I'm not sure the June sales batches were the cheapest they had ever sold them for either. Even though the current price for January S9 units is $104/TH, it is clear that Bitmain can easily sell S9 units at or below the cost of these DragonMint units on a cost per TH basis. A Jan S9 will include 2 months of mining yields that a DragonMint unit won't. Right now that would be worth several hundred $ per unit.

The Halong miner in pre-order is $84.3 per TH. At the regular price they will cost $99.68/TH. Not particularly competitive. They are not notably more power efficient than current gen with advertised specs. Quality is utterly unknown and unproven in the field. These guys might have a 25% field failure rate in 6 months for all we know. You have to tie up your BTC for 4-5 months and take the risk that this company can deliver when promised at the specs promised. Most notably, you are committing capital to a form factor close to the end of it's life cycle.

It bothers me when a company needs to raise production revenue by pre-selling $M worth of machines 5 months in advance (the hardware equivalent of an ICO), machines that do not offer any real price/production advantage over a unit that has been on the market for over a year and a half. It also bothers me whenever a company tries to tug at your sensibilities with one of these 'decentralize crypto' campaigns. That sort of marketing is bullshit, like "hey, we're on your side bro - don't bow to the tyranny of XXX, we've got your back instead." Yeah right. Trust and believe if they had a superior product, they would try to monopolize the market just like any other company. So many people in our community like to line up behind 'their favorite company/whatever', and these companies naturally try to leverage that where ever they can, but none of these companies are looking out for us.

If Halong is legit, then we may have another equipment alternative soon and perhaps an incentive to drive down the prices of other companies gear (which in itself is a double edged sword), but aside from that, I really don't see anything compelling happening here.

We will have to wait until Nvidia and AMD and Intel get into the mining industry, along with Japan. Wouldn't it be cool to have Sony miners or something? the more different countries competing the better.

At some point sophistication of the chips will be better than shittier yet cheaper ASICs stacked. China can't compete with Nvidia, AMD and Intel because they don't have the resources to do so. If engineers in the west put all their focus on mining, im sure China would stop being the #1 powerhouse.

I did pull the trigger and buy some today. I took into consideration the well respected members of the community claiming it is legit. For me personally I wish the power supply was 208 volt. I'm hoping they are able to run on that voltage. I do have some EVGA 220-240 volt PSU's that have been running on 208 for over a year. Only time will tell, but I have a good feeling about this one.

Edit: I don't blame them one bit for not taking PayPal. Everything BTC related that I accepted payment through PayPal I was issued a charge back. Lots of scumbags in this industry you have to be careful.

I highly doubt this is going to end up the way everyone hopes.

I really dislike Bitmain, but honestly, Throwing money at an UNPROVEN.......PRE-ORDER machine is just a recipe for disaster. That + the wait time is almost half a year. ALOT can and will change in Half a year. I love that newer companies are coming into the ASIC scene and honestly, anything to make Bitmain think twice about their antics is always nice. But this is not the way to do it.

They should contact independent members of the mining community, and loan the miners for review. Be honest and open about it. Right now from what I can tell, they probably managed to squeeze a bit more out of a T9, or maybe they managed to add more chips to a T9? It makes no sense with what they are doing.

This is almost as bad as Syan (and would have been worst if Adam Back didn't vouche for it). Lets see how this go

If DragonMint would be one of the million scams, I don't see why would there be effort to create this parody website and do the Twitter post.
This Twitter post and the parody website almost seems like a poor discredit attempt.
