After further research and after being in contact with Innosilicon our company will no longer be going to Miami for the demonstration day.

We have talked to Innosilicon regarding Halong using one of their machines in the press pictures and we have reached a concrete verdict. We will be taking our business elsewhere.
Caveat emptor, please do not delve any further into this smoke and mirror operation and put more money into this. We have done the most intensive research by far of anyone online and there simply isn't a silver lining.

If anyone wants more information feel free to pm me, and if anyone wants our spot for the demo day or information on it also pm.

He has posted more information regarding his dealings with Halong on the other thread. You can find it by clicking on his profile and going to his only other post.

Keep in mind these are his only 2 posts, and if everything is true, it's nice to try and help everyone out by being transparent.

Either way this whole product scenario has my spidey senses tingling, and until they get out the batches they have taken pre orders for I wouldn't touch it with someone else's 10 foot pole.

EDIT: Sorry misread didn't realize that his first post was in this thread. If there is new information it would be great to see it.

Are they doing this out of spite for bitmain?? No offense but it does not sound believable that it suddenly exists.

I could only suspect it before but now it is all too clear. Halong is simply a propaganda smoke screen in the BTC/BCH tug of war.

Bitmain allied with BCH therefore BTC Devs need a hardware ally so they created Halong. Slush is also very aligned with BTC Core Team so it all makes sense.

Halong may very well have every intention of trying to create an actual miner so this is not the typical run away with the money scam. However they are completely deceptive in their tactics.

I have come to believe their motives are:
#1 publicly denounce bitmain. you can easily see this in their marketing and comments on this thread
#2 soak up money from miners who would otherwise be buying from bitmain
#3 collect money from the unwary as a slush fund to be used to advance Core priorities
#4 the last priority in all this is to create an asic miner. They may actually make one. I can only hope that they do but it is not their primary focus.

I followed his first post carefully. He found out some additional information about Halong between first and second post. Hoping he can elaborate.

Ahh I juz saw it.

So, my initial guess was correct? ...that there are no real units. That explains why the miner was out of stock but they could somehow get more units if  u were to order 1000 or more units. They want to take in as much as possible but not have too many people complain. That also explains the 5 units minimum. Hmmmmm

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

Well I'd like to remind everyone that I did say this smells a lot like Innosilicon hardware and software with different labelling.

This partnership with Myrig.com is the most positive thing that has happened so far,

but I'm affraid their retail price will be really really high, the same as with the S9 miners.

Some new images are uploaded in the Myrig.com shop.

I managed to find the high-res images, they were 'hidden'.

See this Imgur album for the picture found at DragonMint product page: https://imgur.com/a/WaHLd

We can finally have a slightly little better look at the miner.

For cooling there seems to be two pieces Delta TFC1212DE, front and back, in a push-pull configuration.

And I think I now know why the miner web configuration page was just like with the Innosilicon A5 and A4+.
The DragonMint miner has the exact same controller board.
See it for yourself, here is a picture for comparison: https://i.imgur.com/jxHeSP6.jpg

Also the steel case tube looks a lot like the one Innosilicon uses for the A5 and A4+.

Maybe the Halong Mining actually has a subcontract for these miners to be manufactured by Innosilicon?

And another design comparison here (pay attention to the controller with this image as well): https://i.imgur.com/a9sZcJa.jpg

I surely can't be the only one who sees these similiar design details?

One detail to also pay attention  is that the Innosilicon control board uses reversed PWM signal for the cooling fan control.
This method is not that commonly used.
Delta TFC1212DE are cooling fans that are controlled with a reversed PWM signal.
DragonMint and Innosilicon A4+, A5 miners use these cooling fans.
This detail also supports my theory.

I've witnessed more than 100M$ being scammed off the people from this forum during 2013-2014. It's how this forum self defense works. You need to understand why is this happening to you. If you don't understand that it means that you don't understand part of your customers. Why bother to make your story credible so much since you are not taking any orders? Just wait until you ship or until you can show more tangible proof and stop wasting time.

That's rich coming from someone who shilled for the bankrupt Spoondoolies and rationalized their obnoxious spamming of the Custom Hardware sub.

Funny how when other ASIC makers go bankrupt it's all proof of scam and conspiracy, yet when *your* ASIC company goes bankrupt it's not.

You should stick to trolling BCashers on social media.  You're much better at that than understanding the complex nuances of PoW mining and ASIC manufacturing. Cheesy

Ladies & Gentleman, you all may safely ignore RoadStress' self-serving opinions about which ASICs are and are not legit.  He is clearly incapable of distinguishing between the two in a consistent, objective manner.

Been available now for two days.
I have also seen that they have now added a wire transfer option. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Would like to buy but I'm still not convinced if they're real.
I'll wait till I see someone trustworthy from this forum receive one or more.

BTW, I emailed them asking if I could have their address and get a friend in China to visit them and do a review.  They replied 'not possible right now'.

Disappointing news from bt898.  Any chance of elaborating on the results of your investigations into Dragonmint and Innosilicon?  Also, anyone here going to check out the rig in Miami tomorrow or Saturday?  It would be a great benefit to all if someone with extensive ASIC knowledge and "street cred" on this forum would take a look as this thing in person.  Just hoping...

Any bets, now that Halong is going to publicly display the rig in Miami this weekend, that they step out from under their veil and open up their operations to everyone.  We'll see, but doesn't look promising.  Also does anyone know where in Miami this demo is occurring.  Conference center or back alley?
