well guys you can always do what I did go 80-20

80 = gpus
20 = asics.

I am getting a demo rig on weds day 13 gpus in a sealed case.  A german builder.
I will do a demo and compare it to some of my diy gpu builds.

I just wish asic builders were a bit more approachable then they are.

I buy steady and often been doing this since 2012.  I don't plunge in with both feet anymore.

What I would really like to see is for asic builders to sell the chips once in a while.  Does not happen often.
Could you mention who this German builder is? Does he do orders?

Well at least it does seem real. and maybe I will get some for april.

I will post a review and a youtube if I can get them.

It is supposed to be a different chip  and be more efficient .  75- 80 days and we will find out.

For the first time since they announced... I feel at ease about it. I hope to get some in April as well. Can't wait to see some reviews and folks actually hashing with them. Despite all the madness and heartburn in this thread... one thing is for certain: the competition in this market is desperately needed, and for that reason along I'd support these guys.

Bitmain warranty aka myrig.com. Is one of two reasons that I still use asics.

I only have 3 s9s,

I have no other asics.  Myrig has done multiple repairs with decent service.

I have a lot of gpus far more then my s9s.
I think I need to send in two dead s9 boards this week.
1 from a new 14th miner

1 from a old batch 1 miner.

And I may have lost a full s9 at the solar array

Which would mean 5 dead boards and four good boards. Of the three I have left.

I thought u had a good amount of S9s running for over a year plus with minimal issues?

Hmm still unsure of halong. In any case, if halong/bitmain/ebit/avalon churn out bitcoin miners this year, difficulty is going to go through the roof. Btc isnt likely to rise 14x from this price like it did in 2017. That price increase kept mining profitable. At current 220 billion mkt cap at 13k usd per btc, a 14x increase would mean bitcoin needs to be 182k per bitcoin...in a year. The mkt cap would then be 3080 billion. That just isnt happening in a year for bitcoin, imo. Bitcoin mining may not be so good this year if this churning occurs.

Btc mining profitability just dropped like 30-40% compared from its month ago peak...and that is without halong and the stronger new units of avalon.

Just my 2 cents

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

I think Innosilicon is involved in this project.

Totally serious question.

What advantage would Innosilicon get from "partnering" with another mining manufacturer?

If they are providing all the intellectual knowledge, design, implementation, etc. what do they get out of it?
What if HalongMining is Innosilicon?
Maybe coming up with a different name helps, since Innosilicon has a terrible reputation?
Maybe some peace for these few months instead of 1000s of emails about the DragonMint?
We will know soon enough, maybe partnership, maybe just contract work, who knows...

Didn't BITMINE also contract Innosilicon for the development of the A1 CoinCraft chip? That project did not end well for BITMINE...

Anyone else remember the A1 Dragon Miner from Innosilicon???

It looks more and more like 2013-14 all over again! I know Notwarmfuzzy remembers them!!!!

Aye matey, that I remember all too well. Thing is, the 28nm A1 chip (still debate as to whom the design belongs to, Inno or Bitmine.ch - very convoluted and disputed agreements between them) was not bad for it's time.

Ja the chip had 2 respins before it came close to original design spec and was supposed to be released early Nov 2013 as I recall. The chip was released by Inno Dec. 23, 2013 along with a 2-chip dev board for it. By late Feb 2014 the 1st Dragons and the clones of it were being sold AND WERE NOT MONTHS-AHEAD PRE-ORDERS. It was Bitmine.ch and their North America distributor AMT that from day-1 did pre-orders starting around October 2013 - before ANY usable A1 chips were in the hands of devs. While the Dragon makers did things right and created their own PCB's using the dev boards just as a performance reference, Bitmine did not. They basically took the dev board and replicated it 8x on each hashboard... Speaking of that train wreck seems the A1 CoinCraft thread is still alive and kicking with folks looking for their money...

Anywho, at least they were showing pics as the designs evolved.

My problem with Halong was they wanted a leap of faith with ZERO tangible evidence of their chips existence much less a usable miner. Like I've said before, Halong followed every single step in the Scamming for Dummies Guidebook so wtf did they expect from veterans of the 2013-2014 scam wars? High praise and roses? If Halong had not prematurely put up their website and done pre-orders this whole thread would not be here.

With MyRig stepping in, ok, cool. FINALLY a company that folks here know and trust. The bit about Hotmine.io being interested would fit with the claim of making chips available to 3rd parties and again, they are a known company here.  Now all that remains to be seen is if the miner can be reliably mass-produced.

edit: Kudos for the mods stripping out the warnings from my posts! After reading the MyRig announcement I was going to do it myself and was very surprised the mods had done it for me Cheesy

I see. Kinda weird how the batch one seem to work better. Thats 1.5 years back.

Hmmm with btc price dropping now, profitability dropped further and for some reason mining difficulty still jumps further sigh.

above post saying maybe dragonmint IS or part of Innsilicon is not a bad guess

it is not like Innsilicon has good reputation anymore after the A5 fiasco

I would suspect...with the price dump in crypto happening...if they are legit here...that there

will suddenly be demo's and availbility to buy units...(see bitmain selling units now on 10 day ship)

so if they exist i expect them to try to move some units rather then fill their data halls anymore

at least, till things maybe settle upward in price again crypto wise at least

my guess...

quite the cluster

DragonMint units back on sale. I will not buy more until there is further proof. I find it odd that they have come on sale again so soon after selling out a week or so ago, especially as crypto is taking a large correction, seems counterintuitive. Just another reg flag for me.  Just my 2 cents.

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if this is normal... I'm a bit confused... Halong Mining Dragon Mint 16T for sale again. And now you have to do the payment within 15 minutes, Batch 2 Sale you had 1 hour time for payment.... What's going on?

How can i even make a transaction with Bitcoin whitin 15 minutes. Its olmost take a hour for the transaction.

Is there anybody else who is facing this??

Thanks.
