http://www.coindesk.com/mt-gox-loses-340-million-bitcoin-rumoured-insolvent/

I feel for everybody who has funds locked in at Gox.

But in terms of Gox itself. Good riddance! Their incompetence has been proven  over and over. Just the mere notion of blaming Bitcoin for their own buggy system. Malleability exploits apparently known for years but they never moved to fix it? They apparently turned a blind eye while everybody in their system got robbed. Plain and simple.

Irresponsible to a criminal degree. I'm glad I never touched them with a 10 foot pole.

Let this be the last time they give BTC a black eye.

EDIT: Even though I have no skin in the game at Gox the whole thing makes me furious. My fellow Bitcoiners were taken for a ride. Justice will probably never be done. Black marks on all of Gox management. They knew what was happening. As a community we should ensure that we raise our voices should they move to other organizations. They'll never "work in this town again" if we make ourselves heard.

You'll know me as dgiors in some other forums.

Here is something unexpected, BFL_Josh:

"Yes, and I'm working on getting additional benefits for those that paid $4k for the cards. I don't want to reveal any specifics yet, but we will hopefully be able to take care of the customers appropriately."

Obviously us smaller shareholders are only going to get fractional ownership of a mug, a timeshare, I'd like to book the last two weeks in August... I think that's far enough out of the cold sore season.

My bet would be on a discount voucher or a free stand for them in USB mode.  Or perhaps some underperforming hardware from last year.  I just can't imagine them adding more Monarchs to large orders or giving partial refunds... nothing that would directly cost them more money or make customers truly happy.  But I'd love to be wrong.

At his point, based on past behaviour, it's tough to expect anything substantial from BFL.  So far all of their offers have turned out to be pretty empty: like the original coupon offer for early orders, or the offer to donate to charity if late.

On the other hand, if they want to get much in the way of return business, a short-term cost to them might end up being a good investment.  I'd hope they at least make up for the losses we've incurred, not only by not having the miners, but due to the fact that those who ordered after us will have their orders much faster.  It's like 2013 all over again...

My hope is that they ship us at least 2x our original order - either that or... nah, that's all that really matters.

lol

I wondered if anyone would notice.  Electrum is definitely my favourite wallet, and running a couple of servers for it seems like a reasonable way to give back to the community.

I definitely like Electrum the most as well. No other real competitors at this time.
