It seems difficulty jumped up a lot today so the mining rate dropped significantly. (30-40%)
Could someone be able to explain in really easy way how this difficulty works with Casinocoin?
Is it dynamic? Will difficulty go back down? Or will it only go up from now on?

Sure I can help you with that.

In simple terms, difficulty is the measure of how much hash power is on the network over a certain period of time.  When a coin is more profitable, more miners will mine that coin and the difficulty increases.  When people stop mining it for another coin, this gives the coin the chance to drop down in difficulty.

This is why you see the swings in profitability.

We have seen quiet a bit of profit for the miners on http://CSC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM even with the swings.  It's best to keep mining through the ups and falls.

When a coin's difficulty is low, you can mine more coins quickly.  When the difficulty is high, you mine less coins over time.

In Casino Coin's case, with it's recent popularity, it is best to constantly mine the coin.  It has risen quite a bit on Crypsty now and there have been reports that the Chinese government has said the coin is to be allowed to be used in online gambling/casinos.

It would be nice to have a source for the Chinese thing, I have seen it mentioned here before but no sources..

Casinocoin adjusts its difficulty every 720 blocks (roughly 6 hours). When it adjusts it attempts to set the new difficulty so that if the pace of mining (determined by total network hashpower) which occured during the last time period holds constant then the blocks with the new difficulty should be solved on average every 30 seconds (the target). Whether it goes up or down next period depends on how fast blocks are solved this period which is a function of average network hash power (there's not much variance due to luck at n=720).

Just wanted to take a minute to give props to Transcender on the launch of Casinocoin.

He worked very hard at the start to ensure it was fair and mined just like any other miner to obtain the coin that he holds. I don't think anyone would have faulted him for pre-mining a coin such as this but he opened it up to the community to decide and went with their decision.

Perhaps we can start a donation address to be used for the purpose of developing the coin for its specific purpose. I read that a certain quantity would be necessary for casino's to cover bets. I don't know how that works but perhaps we can start building the funds to do so.

Maybe it would be best to start utilizing this coin by initially developing gaming sites to show the larger ones that it can be done successfully.

Also, now that we have a pool thread let's try to keep pool discussions over there...it's a bit distracting Wink

Todays CSC volume on Cryptsy is now at 99.7 BTC! About 85.000$ !Can you imagine the possible value of this coin in 1 week, 1 month or 1 year from now?
If you don't need the money try to hold your CSC for as long as possible!

@trdiablo:
While it has been exciting to see the value of CSC increase within the last week, like you, I'm more excited to see the increase in trade volume of CasinoCoin! High trade volume is a good thing, especially when value follows. The more trade volume, the more in fees the exchanges make -- and the way I see it, that would entice other exchanges to list CasinoCoin.

One of my short term goals is to open up CasinoCoin to the Chinese market so that one day we'll see CasinoCoin listed on one of the major Chinese crypto exchanges. It seems to be a perfect fit, afterall, the Chinese were the first to officially record the first account of gambling Smiley. CasinoCoin needs to be more Chinese friendly, so I'd like to lead up an effort to make a few of the informational pages found on the CasinoCoin website converted into Mandarin. I will need the help from the Mandarin speaking population of the CasinoCoin community to help assist this effort, so please send me a private message if you would like to contribute.

To @CartmanSPC's point, CasinoCoin was launched fairly with no pre-mine. I started mining as soon as everyone else did (and thanks @CartmanSPC for having a pool ready on launch day!). I felt it was the right thing to do in order to build confidence in the coin at such an early stage. We all know that coins that are premined have a stigma to them, and if not handled properly, the stigma could mean a quick death to a coin as we've seen countless times. While I have no regrets about the launch, there is a downside to not having a premine -- it's a bit of a catch-22. The downside is that funding bounties are a bit harder to come by. While I have funded bounties and house stacks from my own personal wallet in the past where things didn't work out, I still plan on continuing to do so, albeit a bit more selective. The community can also donate to these bounty efforts by donating to the CSC address under the 'Donations' section of the first post.

I agree with many of you that feel it's time for CasinoCoin to take the next step and become integrated into gaming applications that utilize CasinoCoin. I will address this in my next post detailing some of the past history, where we stand and the plan going forward.

One more thing, as others have suggested, in order to keep this thread about the development of CasinoCoin, let's move pool related discussions to this thread.

I propose NOT to use this forum. Let's stick with bitcointalk and have 3, 4 threads about CSC here. Here are far more people! We need visibility!

Earlier today I expressed some frustration (using some unnecessary foul language, sorry about that guys) directed towards the coinarmy pool regarding the lack of communication during their technical difficulties. After communicating with them via pm they have shown that they are prepared to make good on any unpaid coins mined during that time. I'd suggest pm'ing or emailing the working addy coinarmy@gmail.com if you mined there during that period and they will take care of you.

Thank you coinarmy.com crew for recovering my lost coins  Grin

I would also like to thank CoinArmy for coming through and recovering my lost coins as well.  I'll be honest, I never thought it would happen, but it did.

We've decided to hold at 0% till the pool grows and we get some custom features launched. We will also likely be dropping the expected fee down from our initial thought of 5% to something more appropriate.

MooPool.com - 0% - Help us grow so we can implement sweet new features!
