dadach: I even have my CPUs mining, just for added hashrate. There are always more chances to find a block when you have a higher hashrate.

Novacoin may worth nothing when it actually gets traded.
If it always has lower value when it matures for exchanging to BTC, a workaround would be to trade it only at the moment it becomes profitable again to mine. That is, if there's a chance that it will again be worth something in the future.

ok so in the end, it doesnt matter when cpu take forever to record one share? I wouldn't recommend using only a CPU to mine, as it will take forever to get a payout. Also, do it only on computers that you really leave on even before you started mining.

I have the same problem. It would say stratum connection is interrupted. I use CGMiner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159267.0to restart cgminer if the accept share does not change for 1min.

Does anyone know of a method to see the network hash rate history of many of the alternate coins in one place? I'm curious to see what the effect is from the multi-coin pools on some of the smaller coins.
There's this: http://cryptometer.org/Only some coins there, but you can click "All Days" and see all the history. Although, some of them seem to be outdated... some of them are up to date. Thanks for the link, this helps.

Looks like I was mining along with network diff @ 21M (weird number) for a while then we start mining something else for 30 seconds then switch to another coin for 10 seconds and then back to network diff 21M which is a strange value since there is no altcoin at that level other than Namecoin which is not a scrypt-based currency anyway. Thirty seconds? Ten seconds? 21M?? Is this a programming issue or is that a realistic time to mine with the middlecoin pool?
Thanks Take care
...and now [2013-08-18 20:52:17] Network diff set to 59.8M What coin is diff 59.8 million?!? Anybody? Take care

That one is Litecoin. And the 21.2M one you linked earlier is Novacoin.

I did notice frequent switching and my miner sat idle afterwards for 10 minutes until cgwatcher restarted it.

Port 8080 is now open, for people behind restrictive firewalls. It does the same thing as port 3333.
Also, I disabled the coin that switches after like 30 seconds of mining it (SPT). I didn't realize it was disconnecting people.

Because we have a bunch of NVC blocks that will mature on tuesday, I believe. Ouch, that brings up a good question. Is it really worth mining NVC and selling at whatever price it is in x days? Prices fluctuate enough from hour to hour. Throw days into the mix and it just gets worse. I'm wondering if maybe we're not actually losing as a result.

As far as I know, it will fluctuate up just as much as it does down. I guess the question is how much variance is ok, for a profit increase? If NVC is 2% more profitable than the next coin, but might fluctuate 20% before it gets sold, is that ok?

That's because it's not worth it for you guys to hop on Spots. You only get a block or two then get bounced back out when it retargets
