I was able to quit after about 7 years of heavy smoking. My biggest tip would be - focus on the positive side of non-smoking and enjoy the life which is cleaner and lighter.

You gotta find a reasonto quit. Simply wanting to is not enough. My friend quitted when he talked to the doctor and he said he will live about 2-3 years with this kind of lifestyle

I smoke for 5 years and I'm not going to quit, but if I decide to do it - it will be that way.

it is very difficult to stop smoking especially when addicted to it, the only remedy to smoking is prayer and grace of God apart from that nothing else

I do not smoke but my smoker friends tried switching to vape and gradually decreasing their use of it. They said it helps them from not suffering too much withdrawal.

I smoked for 15 years, but after I started a violent cough and shortness of breath, I thought about quitting smoking, my wife helped me a lot, every day she had enough to cough, quit smoking! It was very hard! But it was worth it)))

I smoked everyday for 20 years. I did not quit until it became extremely inconvenient .  I had surgery and had to spend a week in the hospital (a place that does not allow smoking), I tried to quit many times before that but after a week of no smokes it was easy and did not crave one at all. I did substitute it with vaping for awhile.

If I had to quit smoking again I would take at least a week off, get rid of all cigs,  take a drink of water and go to bed every time i craved one. I would try to sleep as much as possible and avoid anyone that smokes.

One more thing that I thought about while I was quitting. I kept thinking each day that went by that was 1 day I made it and smoking again would take that day from me. It felt good smelling things i haven't smelled in years, it felt good not hacking up phlegm in the shower, it felt good being able to jog like I used to. Also. I started taking my dogs for longer walks along trails and the woods in the morning never smelled and felt so good.

1 week is all it took to feel good again.

To quit smoking is necessary for the beginning of an elementary desire!  So if you do not want to do it yourself, but just repeat the phrase "I want to stop smoking" then it's useless to try, or it will not work or you'll start again!

Any ex smokers out here? How did you do it??

I am not a smoker now and I have never been. But a few friends of mine stopped smoking and they are so happy now. All they did was just believe in themselves and having a great self-control.

I have been smoking for 7 years and I have tried alot to quit but its not as easy as I thought. I think the main problem is that people in our age can’t find an actual reason to quit maybe we should face a real health problem to quit for real.
