I would feel like dying if this happened to me. If he can keep it, he now has more than $ 1.6 million, some great wealth. It is very unfortunate that this property is the number of properties that I am dreaming to receive in the future. Really condolences to him, I hope he can try to start again.

Indeed regret will not come early. A few years ago, bitcoin prices were well below current prices, which caused bitcoiners not to pay much attention to wallet security and they did not think that bitcoin would jump so high. But now suddenly the price of bitcoin is very high, I can not describe the feelings of people who lost a lot of bitcoin, hopefully the person is okay the situation and keep the spirit.

I heard that now psychics and fortunetellers offer services for recovering passwords for lost wallets with bitcoins, maybe over time someone come up with how to recover such data, but now we have to be more careful about our wallets.
Please, tell me you mean this as a joke? There is no way those charlatans can help one to recover lost bitcoin wallet passwords. If there are any you have witnessed with incontrovertible proof, kindly share a link to where one can verify it.

Oh i know that story!! Have read about it before and my first reaction is wtf!?!? If i were him, i would be so freaking angry and sad, and maybe regret everything in my life lol.
I bet he can't sleep properly. Imagine that, having 103 bitcoin will make you a millionare...or even billionare!? And now he lost it. Something that can make him really rich and make him doesn't need to work for his entire life, and maybe his next generations too lol.
I hope nothing like that happen to me, because if yes i don't know how many nights i will be crying lol.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

It is like one piece treasure haha, it is sad because I know it is most likely impossible to brute force hack any online wallet so it is very hard to access those bitcoins. I wish they would make a feature on the wallet that would send its users verification and an authentication message set whenever they couldn't access their wallet for a couple of years and if that wallet is not accessed or confirmed by its owner then maybe it can be returned to the system to be mined again.

Unfortunate for him to lose that big amount. Maybe his very depressed right now all his effort was all gone too sad for him. Maybe someone hacked his account. This will be a lesson for us miners right now.

I've heard a similar story from a few people...talked to a guy at a local crypto meet-up that had a friend with hundreds of bitcoins left in a wallet on a laptop which he lost the data for...lesson learned to save passwords and backup wallets...

Loosing 103 Bitcoins is nothing compared to what this guy lost has lost  7500 Bitcoins He threw away his hardrive

So there's a hard drive with 7500 Bitcoins on a landfill somewhere, slowly decaying.

Here's a link to the story:

Unbelievable! Damn! That is a lot of money. It is clearly obvious that he did not believe that bitcoin would skyrocket to such a high value which is most probably the reason why he never thought of securing it properly in the first place. Losing such a huge stack of money would hit me hard and almost anyone no matter how rich they are, but this clearly demonstrates the importance of securing our assets for the future. I advice everyone to secure all their assets(bitcoin and altcoins) since they could potentially make you rich if you secured them in the right manner through hardware wallets or paper wallets etc. Do not leave your money on exchanges and don't depend on online wallets.
