Really this mistake you can prevent.
But who would have thought if Bitcoin would rise as high as this price?
Maybe in the year, 2011 Bitcoin has no value and many people who underestimate Bitcoin to not remember a good wallet account.
I think if the private key forgot this cannot be helped anymore, because it will be difficult to be able to open it again.
I think you have to remember it aloud about what your private key is.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."
Of course 103 bitcoins are quite a lot of money, but this isn't the worst story I've heard about. There are people who lost thousands and thousand of bitcoins because at that time they were worth nothing so they simply didn't care about it.

That time way back 2011, bitcoin has not greater value compare to this days. Thats a big loss if he/she loss its data file and a big impact to lessen the circulating supply of bitcoin mate. This lesson will teach us to store our private keys and data files safely mate.

I think this guy during 2011 not so aware or not really take good care of  his Bitcoin because he know already that the price value during that time was really too small not like the recent price even if it is going lower price value dated year 2018, just like what we have to take care of our coins or even in our many different kinds of token that really hands on every time and no people can stole it because we keep it properly.

For me it is painful to lose 103 bitcoin. It tells us how much care we have to keep in the online business. If I was the guy it would be really sad and disappointing but everything happens for a reason and what he can only do is to move on and keep earning with bitcoin.

I wonder if there is a way to do an analysis of how many 'orphan' bitcoins there are out there.  I hope he will fine a way to sort it out some days but till then he should keep hope alive and don't give up.

This is a very sad event, if it happened to me I might be able to be half alive and half dead. Because the loss is painful, and it will be an important lesson for all of us to always be careful in keeping every valuable asset we have.

I'm also wondering how many bitcoin gets stuck when its owner loses the files? This will reduce the number of bitcoins on the market and of course the scarcity will increase.

His only hope is guessing the private key. For that, you need a quantum computer. It can be done within 10 minutes maximum.

That's why the hardware wallet needs to be held, and I remember that I started mining in 2015 and I do not even store my bitcoin on my computer, it's all in my paper pocket and I switched to hardware lately in 2017. I also have experienced it but want how else because also have lost the wallets of others yes we can only give up and try not to make the same mistake for the second time.

Actually there are circumstances like this especially to those who don't secure their wallet it can be have and can't get it back again so their Bitcoin will be lost forever.

Even now people are still loosing BTC, when price isn’t so low as it was at the very beginning. I hear such stories all the time, people lose keys or get hacked. That’s why everyone should be careful and keep all info safe.

Wow, he has actually 103 Bitcoin in his wallet. He must be really disappointed with losing his wallet.dat. I wish he gets it soon as possible back but that is nearly impossible.

Actually who is this guy ? Does he has a name ?

That is the beauty of it. It is so anonymous that only you know that you own a particular bitcoins address.

If I was him, I thought I would commit suicide after learning that I lost 103 BTCs in my wallet. Maybe he was very disappointed. He will lose confidence in bitcoin and crypto

The person is extremely fortunate that he could achieve 103 Bitcoins by his hard work. And the other extreme is the misfortune that he has lost his acquired bitcoin. It is said that he lost them because of his kind of carelessness.

I'm sorry for that guy. If I was him, now I still keep the bitcoin. It's a big loss for him. Could he have learned a lesson from this loss. I feel sorry for him, a big amount of money

This is a big loss as of now. Yesterday it may have just a very small and a very much negligible value, yet as of now you can get rich out of it. Retrieval may take a very long time and the possibilities are so thin. Just try experts who could retrieved it if there is.
