I wonder how many people who lost access or simply threw the computer in the trash, along with files and passwords, as at that time did not betray this value!??

So sorry to hear this
In my opinion we should create a tech. for people to recover lost amounts
this is what is missing in my opinion
I mean, it is too easy to lose everything in one second...

I think the owner is definitely sorry for the loss of Bitcoin information. I found the address in Blockchain, the total transaction was 103 Bitcoin, it would be very wasteful if all Bitcoin is lost. If you convert to USD then the owner becomes a billionaire by 2018.
If Bitcoin calculates the current exchange rate, when the Bitcoin exchange rate is $ 17000 then that amount is $ 1500000, a very large amount.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

see it was not that much of a loss , he probably would have sold them for 100$, just like i did back then.

but getting bitcoin stuck in wallets is complicated and is a problem, maybe a blockchain update where all the not moved coins for last 10 years are re distributed.

Hi, I think that many more people lost bitcoin on their mistake, I think this is about 5% of the total bitcoin. And many will lose - because there is a human factor (forgot, did not keep in the right place, a lot of purses).
I think there is not yet a reliable wallet that can help in our human stupidity to store the password.

Well way back at 2011 bitcoin value was very low compare to what we have today, this guy must be really disappointed at this time seeing how much money he has lose due to mistake on his own part. We all need to be careful with our wallet details because that is the only way we can secure out bitcoin. I hope he will fine a way to sort it out some days but till then he should keep hope alive and don't give up.

How long since he gave up on it? Since he used to mine in 2011 he was approximately familiar with Bitcoin since it was born. I believe the price or value of the bitcoin wasn't that much compared to the price now. But still, that's a lot of money right now. In a way, I feel happy cause it indicates how safe Bitcoin is. Nobody was able to stole these money.

WOW
I had nothing to say. Creepy situation  Undecided

Damn sorry for the word but losing a hundred 3 bitcoins thats a lot though , wishing that the guy will take an action as soon as possible , having a 103 bitcoin is not a joke.
I feel sorry for what happened, it's not an easy situation to handle. We can't get back to the past but we can correct it in the present and be a better person. It all happens to everyone, and I believe the best thing to do is to learn from that bad experience, move on with positive thoughts, learn more and don't dwell to much on the situation because that may lead to unproductivity and the inability to think progressively.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/up-to-four-million-bitcoins-gone-forever

It says up to 4 million. So that guy who lost his 103 is another statistics. Really just sad though to see someone lost a lot of money because they either don't believed that bitcoin will skyrocketed or they are just plain stupid and not backing up everything and literally throw their money away.

Can you share more about the story though? Is this a new story or an old one because we have seen a lot of people losing their bitcoins. If will be really good if you can give us a link or something.

when you realize the desire is not in line with reality, maybe the dream he has been destroyed but whether it may not be recoverable again? I'm sure some systems can be recovered as long as there are technicians who can handle it. especially this is lost with a very high price

This guy just has a very bad experience with bitcoin. But this can serve as a lesson to all inattentive-keep all your keys and passwords to your wallet, email, etc.you never know exactly what you will need again in the future.

the private key (and the like) is very important in the technology of the blockchain. all your assets will be lost if you lose the private key. so, do not be careless.

It's a terribly sad story, to know that you own such a huge amount of money, but not to have access to it. Is it really impossible to get access to your wallet again?

You have a lot of money in a wallet and you don't have an access to it ? It means that you don't have those money or those money aren't yours dude.
It's impossible to recover them if you didn't have an access to it, i'm so sorry for you.

In those days, 103 bitcoins was just like today few satoshies, it wasn't even up to 200 USD so no one will be worried of losing such amount. But about 7 years down the line is almost a big money now and any one with that wallet will be hitting his head onto the wall.

it's a huge value. Maybe if it happened to me then I would be frustrated and lose hope on bitcoin. As he says that he has given up. Somehow it can happen and lose his wallet.dat, he's a disadvantaged person. If calculated 103 btc it's a lot of value and can be a new rich man.

i suspect even more have been lost. if satoshi was Hal as many of us wonder it's highly possible his family destroyed a good deal of the original holdings or did not know where they were etc. we know some were left to his kids but with the hell that family went through it seems highly likely they sold all or nearly all by now. i would be shocked if they have more than 100 hidden away. just an enormous amount of coins were mined 2009-2011 and the value was very very low. lost copies, bricked computers, lazy people, the list goes on. i would not be the least bit surprised to find out the maximum coin number is closer to 15 million

Its hard to move on if I were to have this kind experience myself.. totally devastating..so discouraging..but then life must go on.. and and keep trying even do we sometimes fail.. good thing is we still have the chance to do do better this time..to keep it more secure and to try harder to earn in order to make up for what was loss.

It is best for the other bitcoin users to take that story as a lesson, if i were that guy then i might be thinking about suicide because that costs a lot of money and that is not like 0.01 bitcoin only because it is 103 bitcoins which can give you a lot of things and capability in life but that guy should just keep moving forward and maybe in the future he can earn more than that.
