Indeed when the price of bitcoin is still very low, so many people do not care about bitcoin. I am sorry for the loss of bitcoin you have, but I think it's a lesson how we can always think positive and meticulous and thorough in doing something so that the data set we have can be stored well and whenever we want to open it will not lose the data. hopefully you can accept the reality that has happened to you, and begin to rise again with a new spirit to fix the mistakes that ever happened, so you will be lucky and successful for your future better.

Very unfortunate on the Guy's part to have lost so much, because having such amount of Bitcoin mined at 2011 is a lots of money now. Pathetic enough, I doubt whether this wallet can forever be traced again unless through pure intervention to the Guy. A very good reason or lesson learnt from this is to always back our wallet up especially when it is already storing larger amount of Bitcoin. Better still is the employment of Hardware Wallet such as Ledger Nano S.

That's a lot of money now compared to 2011, if it were me I would be so gutted. That's why I have taken the pain to store my keys, files on different storage devices.

i lost 1 too. why? it wasn't so important that time. i took the backup thing not serious.
now this could have easily been 100. i wouldn't have changed my backup "strategy". because it wasn't worth much. the laptop it was on, was way more expensive Wink

it becomes a lesson for us that, storing, or holding assets that we have to be careful about. well, losing the assets we have is not a trivial thing, especially if it is the hope that we have. knowing that, we have to be more careful about investing, or anything like that.

Even if he had access to that wallet file he would have sold a long time ago as not many people have that much patience to hodl those coins for so long. Also there are thousands of people who might have lost their wallet files or passwords and now don't have access to their Bitcoins.

He loss too much money, that's why we must not feel secured on investing our money on bitcoins because anytime it can go away. BTW how to mine bitcoin?

With asic miners. But that's debatable if it's worth it anymore.

Its a shame there is no way for people with the wallet phasprases to still be able to get access to their old wallets .where they either forgot the password or the wallet seed or simply do not know where you have taken the back up of the wallet and in my opinion around a million bitcoin are lost forever and the majority of the coins are from the beginnning as it was easy to mine the coins.

This is why there is not going to be anything near 21 million bitcoins in circulation. Lots of people lots their coins, especially early miners. Also Satoshi has locked up 1 million bitcoins so the number is definitely lower

Crypto still can't account for human error..I lost some bitcoin on anonymous exchange because I forgot to back up my password. I think most of have made a mistake that has costed us money, just not to the extent of 103 bitcoins. It's really sad.

Woow! what a lost, sorry for his lost 103 BTC funny enough it could be that back then he was really not that heart broken and sad base on the fact that Bitcoin didn't have that much value compared to it's current value. Believe me, if he valued that coin back then the way he would value it now, there is no way that he will misplace or lose his wallet.dat file.

In fact, if you have lost bitcoin as you express it, it will be difficult to return your lost bitcoin and most likely will not be able to go back. For the future you should be more careful and keep well account bitcoin password you have to not lose or be picked up by an irresponsible person. Stay in the spirit of mates hopefully you will be able to get more bitcoin beyond your lost bitcoin with the new spirit you have Smiley

Is that true? How devastated it is. I can't even endure to lost even one bitcoin, but this man lost hundred of it. I think most of the people around him will bash him to the fullest. I think there is still a solution for that case. If the .dat file is stored in a hard disk then it could recoverable. There are application that could be installed to recover files even the hard disk have been formatted a long time. However, if the problem is he don't even know if it is stored in a hard drive or in a thumb drive. I hope he found it soon. Those are one of the problem if bitcoins are stored in a cold storage or in an independent area.

The safety of investing depends on each investor personally! The fact that the user himself is to blame for his loss, was it hindered by someone to keep passwords on different media and put them in various secret places? Likewise, you can lose access to a bank cell. Most likely this is the result of a carefree attitude, because when he bought the BTC they cost much less )).
