if he lost that year, I do not think he was too upset because I thought that bitcoin had a low value. the thoroughness of every step it is absolutely necessary once you have careless remorse will come to you

That's a total disaster because he can't recover his wallet's .This is however a great lesson for us to encrypt our Wallets with pass-phrase or actually store them outside the computer in an Hardware like ledger Nano especially where huge amount is involved. It looks like he lost about a million dollars worth of bitcoin!  2 million if he would have sold when it was higher!

It hurt to lose 103 BTC. It is a great lesson learned about securing wallets. Avoid unfortunate occurrences.
Be more careful when keeping the organizers in the wallet everyone

That's not a lot. People have mined thousands of Bitcoins and lost them.Very sad. Hopefully this incident does not happen to us all.

I dont want to know how many people lost their bitcoins they mined or buyed back then for so cheap price. I think there are millions of bitcoins who are lost. So maybe thats one reason why the price of bitcoin could reach that high. Its more limited then we expectet because of all the lost private keys. and data!

How can be so irresponsible in this matter? especially with such a sum of money. it seems to me he himself is to blame for not being in the states to take care of this file.

Definitely losing a lot of bitcoin as it will make you disappointed and sad, but you should learn from what has happened. To further more careful and always keep the bitcoin we have with good and right to avoid the crimes that can harm us. I hope the loss of bitcoin does not make you weak, but rather arouses the fight to get more bitcoins, because I'm sure you can get more bitcoin from what you've lost.

I guess there are lots of bitcoins now that are sort of "lost in limbo" as the owner lost priv keys or wallet.dat.
Some news before I recall was there were btc owners who were searching landfills for their old harddrives and laptops.

A very sad occurrence and to overcome that all many users are in this situation so he says a lot about Bitcoin security and that we all have to learn from it. We need to be able to secure our passwords, but once again make sure we will be able to access them, especially those who make long-term investments, there are many ways to secure your password, but you can also make sure you will be able to access them. We all need to be very careful.

Ironically, lucky to the receiver but bad luck to the sender. So far once bitcoin was sent already we can't do anything to get it back for the market does not designed with that purpose. Once lost, forever lost. Maybe to the owner he should be more careful than how he was careful before to avoid losing again some bitcoins or even altcoins. I hope and wish that he is okey. Wishing the best for him to regain strength and courage to move on and do his job again to earn some even just a little.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

This bitcoin address will be forgotten and lost forever. I dunno if there are expert hackers who can be cracked that wallet. That could be more than 700k in US dollars.

That is really unfortunately for you tobecause that is a lot of money and of course a lot of efforts have been wasted because of that just in case that there are a great hacker that can crack the code then it is great but if not then just do not lose hope and do not blame yourself either just start in the beginning again and that is why ehen the bitcoins are having a high price I am bringin the half of my bitcoin into real cash and then saving it because this is a technology I cannot be assure that this can last forever

How sad that Bitcoin lost that much.
And this is actually a basic error that can actually be prevented.
Wallet system security may be difficult to solve by many unless a professional hacker might break into this person's wallet.
The year 2011 Bitcoin is not high yet but now the price of Bitcoin has changed to very high.

There is no way to retrieve it unless if he could remenber where he put the files to recover and open it. Many have experienced problems like these and the only thing that could help prevent this is to make more back up of private keys on the computer zipped with passwords.

IMHO for such amount of money you can hire hundred people to find out where you lost it) Or recover all information byte by byte from the bad hard drive in special organizations)
