Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Great thread! Bitcoin is not a scam but there were people who're not in the right minds to do what is right. Thus, doing what is the opposite of right. There were many people doing this. Including in this forum, there were a lot of scam threads in here, bounties and etc.

If Bitcoin is a scam then large companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook are scam too? I believe the Companies have more than doubled in value since they were founded?

If Bitcoin were a Centralized  National Company it would definitely be traded on Stock Exchange and the price would still rise and fall in thesame manner. There is nothing evil about a Product increasing in value.

I think ponzi scheme experience may be why many are unable to differentiate between real or fake thesdsys. Anything that rises in value is considered as ponzi/scam.

Bitcoin has a lot of fluctuations but I think it's not a scam. I think you should spend more time thinking about this market, watching it closely and planning new ones. I have some friends who have failed but they change strategies then guide me into this market.

Bitcoin is not scam guys!! Huh Huh Huh

Huge scam.  First time ever a 'natural Ponzi' has been achieved.  Pure brilliance.

If it is not a scam, then why did so many people lose all their money?  Including you.  By the way, the people getting scammed usually don't think it is a scam.  That's how scams work.  It should be no surprise all the idiots write: 'is not a scam'
Then this is an ordinary financial pyramid, because unlike scam, many people have also managed to earn money. In addition, from 2014 to 2015, the price of bitcoin also fell strongly, but for some reason people did not consider this a proof that bitcoin is scam. Scam are those projects in which the money of investors was simply stolen without the possibility of getting them back somehow.

I was invited by a friend of a friend to invest in Bitcoin last year. He told me that if I invest 5000 in our currency it will be doubled in a month's time. He also promised me that I will get referral fees and override from every person I introduced to Bitcoin and that prices of Bitcoin are expected to increase. To make the story short I did not join because I believe its a pyramiding scam. Truth to be told I did my research on Bitcoin after that and it turn's out that Bitcoin's price was really on rise unfortunately I did not invest at that time. Currently I'm learning more thru this forum and I thank my friend for inviting me here. Just last December I heard from one of my friends that the company they joined was in fact a pyramiding scam and the money they invested in just vanished out of thin air together with the people who invited them. We should be wary of people offering investments and opportunities to us. Do your research. Opportunity comes with risks as well as the rewards. If its too good to be true, it might be a scam. Bitcoin is not a SCAM but there are people who uses Bitcoin to SCAM other people. Good luck to us and more power to Bitcoin!
Misinformation can really cause bad image to bitcoin. You also one of the people who not fully understand bitcoin. Bitcoin is not a scam but there are some greedy people who using bitcoin to scam other person.

I agree with you. We are scammed by people not by Bitcoin itself. It's good that you can aware that, unlike some unwitting ones who got scammed and then blamed on Bitcoin.
It was wise of you not to accept you friend's offer. It smelled fishy because it was exactly the pyramid system, and it could collapse anytime.

Cryptocurrency scam is not limited to Bitcoin alone. Nowadays, you find scam in virtually all aspects of cryptocurrency connected to both bitcoin and altcoins. There is scam in exchange, ICOs, airdrop and investment. Something has to be done about this.

Been hearing this same story over again, why do we allow people or some organization to take advantage of us by promising they trade or double your Bitcoin if you invest with them while what you need is to hold the bitcoin in your wallet and see it growing and you can also trade on your own. Bitcoin is not scam is the people using Bitcoin that are not pure.

What you said is very true, I was once a victim. Bitcoin itself is not a scam but some businesses and companies especially these networking businesses adopt it as the currency of use in their platform but some of these businesses turn out to be scam. Thanks for sharing this.

Yes bitcoin was never became a scam it was just a currency and that was the thing people used to scam. Not the bitcoin itself. We need to be careful for those people who was using it to scam and always out in your mind that bitcoin itself only a currency which helps us in our financial need. You must understamd first what the real purpose of bitcoin and how it works before you say if its  scam or not.

Of course cryptos have some problems. Crypto is hard to spend and liquidity in crypto markets is shaky. Moreover they are too unstable. But you should analyze everything and  make your own conclusion

Yeah there are a lot of claims where bitcoin is presented as a scam like PayPal and others that call bitcoin as the greatest scam in the history as people have valued a currency whose real identity is digital and control is anonymous hundreds of billions of dollars but regardless of these accusations bitcoin has proved itself legitimate.

Yep, I agree with you because I have seen this posts too. Personal for me it is only advertising to get some money from it.
