The biggest problem on ethereum blockchain is Scalability and there is lot of rumours were going on about implementation of plasma and sharding technology on ethereum blockchain but nothing came Into picture yet. Presently Zilliqa is the true competitor of ethereum blockchain because Zilliqa is the first project to implement Sharding technology and Zilliqa have achieved transaction of 2400TPS in its testnet successfully. Zilliqa is coming up with the mainnet by January 2019 and finally we will be able to conclude who will be the winner in blockchain infrastructure adoption.

for me i see a strong competition coming from the EOS Blockcahin. reecently the have had new developments and is growing daily as well. So Ethereum Blockchain needs to watch out for the EOS

Well at the moment I will say I have not really seen any real ethereum competitor in the real sense, before any platform can compete with ethereum, they have to reach the ethereum level before they can compete with them, currently ethereum still have the highest number of dapps on it's network while other either have few or have not launch their main-net.

Ripple is a.good competitor of Ethereum in terms of market cap. Ethereum is the second.largeat and Ripple is the third. Ripple had actually surpassed Ethereum in second but for only a short span. However, in terms of technology, TRON is the real competitors of ETH. They're very similar in nature. So, they're racing for improvements which is good for us.
