Ethereum is the second most popular and trusted crypto after bitcoin and has been  around for some time now. It has been through many ups and downs but thanks to constant development from active dev team. It will take a lot of work for any new coin to overtake ethereum. But I think they can try to get close to it.

EOS,NEO i believe will offer the stiffest competition to ethereum. they both worked on the shortfall of ethereum and improved on it,but they still have less patronage for now

If for eth rivals I think XLM and XRP is one pretty good competitor, and I believe these two altcoins will continue to grow like ethereum. But it also takes a long time.

I think Neo has a great potential to be a decent contender of the ethereum, on the grounds that I think the interest for it is expanding bit by bit. Likewise, I think IOTA, Stellar and Litecoin are giving trust later on to be great contenders of the ethereum.

In my opinion, i think best competitor to ETH will be EOS. EOS has already launched their main net in this month where they are solving the issue of scalability and transaction speed per second and cost.

Thanks.

EOS wants to be the best of all worlds in cryptocurrency. Essentially, EOS combines the security of Bitcoin and the smart contracts and dApp support from Ethereum (among other technologies) to create the ultimate scalable blockchain platform.

Ethereal's current major competitor is EOS. I appreciate EOS as it is now the largest ICOS ever to attract a lot of investors. The development team of EOS is the superheroes they have excellent movement. And EOS is in fifth place in the top Altcoin.

I don't think that EOS might become a serious competitor to Ethereum, since it's highly centralized and manipulated by its own block producers. DPoS consensus algorithm may be extremely efficient in energy, and highly scalable, but it's not ideal for a smart contract platform, IMO. As Vitalik once said, DPoS enables plutocracy as block producers would get voted in by people who're looking for profits. BPs who offer more money for their votes, will get elected, greatly corrupting the EOS blockchain itself.

Maybe as time goes by, EOS would improve its current model, to avoid such things from happening. But, if that doesn't happen, then it cannot be compared to Ethereum, because the latter is decentralized. Things aside, I consider NEO, Cardano, and Zen Protocol as serious competitors against Ethereum. The last one, will run parallel to Bitcoin's blockchain (like a sidechain) allowing smart contracts to benefit from the security of Bitcoin's blockchain in the long run. However, only time will tell if this and the rest of smart contract platforms will be able to keep up with Ethereum's pace in the future. Just my thoughts Grin

NEO, Vechain, Populous and ICON is the competitors for Ethereum right now. All that coins wants try lead the market.
Many people said ICON is the first competitors after the Ethereum. The sequence will bitcoin, ethereum and ICON. But that's all is prediction, no one knows what will happen in future.

The demand for crypto currency in 2017 reached a record high. The increase in quotations provides a high return on investment, which attracts additional volumes of speculative capital. Skeptics warn that digital currencies are a huge financial bubble. The possible collapse of this asset remains one of the main threats to the development of the world economy.

On my mind Bitcoin Cash and NEO are main competitors of Ethereum. I am not going to invest in these crypto coins but at the same time for me it is very important to watch possible alternatives of Ethereum.

I guess OP has has already retired from this thread but i should remind you about bitcoin cash is not a smartcontract platform and there was no reason to create any comparison between bitcoin cash and ethereum. Bitcoin cash has created to become another failed coin that claimed as the bitcoin killer. Even NEO is no so popular on its country.

Ethereum is the most established coin among all the altcoins. Many people hold bitcoin as much as they can people should know about this too because ethereum is used in many apps. Developers are being in love with is crypto. As days past in future, it has a strong position in this crypto marketplace. It is also a very wise idea to hold its token for a long time and wait for the results and we all know that the ethereum market is stable form any other crypto. When it comes to thinking about ethereum you need to think this first the more company uses this in future the higher token rate will happen for sure. Hold your ethereum stay coll. All other ranks cons are competitors of etherums.

For me EOS will be the best competitor for Ethereum. Many have found this one as interesting since last May there is a large amount which has been pulled out from Ethereum goes to EOS. This could be a huge change if many investors will do the same.

Neo I think the best competitor for Ethereum, Neo is a good coin and has a big community in the market, its development from time to time is higher, I'm sure Neo will continue to grow and become one of the big coins in the future.

While there is no real and competitive platform for the Ethereum. A lot of strong products have already been created on the basis of the Ethereum. We will see a replacement for the ethereum, but not this year and not the next, because this project is alive and working on it and investing.

I think the best contender for Ethereum later on is EOS, EOS has preferable innovation over Ethereum so I thoroughly consider time EOS will be Ethereum's hardest rival later on.

NEO is a more up to date coin that the general population in Asia jump at the chance to publicity up on the grounds that it's on most Asian trades. If not for that then it wouldn't be a contender for Ethereum.

Eth is the strongest alternative crryptocurrency and it will be quite difficult to find competetive altcoins for this. I suppose that there could be Eos, Waves, Monero and maybe Ripple. They look like promising but the final decision depends on your aim.
