I think there aren't that good altcoins at the moment, the best competitor could be Digibyte, it needs more promotion but most of the altcoins have been dropping like crazy and some of the even lost any progress archieved.

The best contender to Ethereum may be the administration of the United States of America, should they ever proclaim it illicit. In the event that you'd wish to keep the discourse on the crypto circle I would figure NEO would be the main challenger. Maybe EOS in the event that it conveys what guaranteed.

The Creator of Tron, a previous illustrative of Ripple Justin Sun, means to make a foundation for a "genuinely decentralized Internet" that can have decentralized applications (dapps). The venture was initially in view of Ethereum, and toward the finish of may, the engineers propelled their own particular blockchain. Sun is sure that the cash will be a commendable contender to ETH.

Actually, there are more than hundreds competitors to ETH, but asking this question is similar to asking "Best competitors to Apple?". There're plenty, but Apple is sitting on the very top by continuously innovate/research/create new way to bound people into their cult. In a way ETH is like that. There's not a cult like project that is stronger than ETH atm. Any tought?

As yet, I think NEO has advanced to end up the best contender of ETH. In spite of the fact that they are contending in crypto, as I would like to think, NEO can't go past ETH. Since they are still inside the extent of the stage, and as I would see it, ETH resembles its parent of NEO. So regardless of what the advancement of NEO, NEO will remain beneath ETH.

Which are the best competitors to Ethereum, and why do you think so?

(I know on top of my head that Cardano and IOTA try to challenge Ethereum,
although they still haven't proved much from my understanding?)

Personally,I think the best competitor for ethereum is NEO because it is more advanced and also has a very good support system. But as it it, I think it cannot beat ethereum because ethereum is more valuable, stable and has potentials and it will continue to grow.

Here Is My Opinion:
XLM And XRP= Has A Lot Of Partnership,Also A Token Platform,Good Developer,Low Fee,Fast Transaction,Good Community,Built-In DEX
NEO = PoS Technology Not Outdated PoW,Faster Transaction,Lower Fee.
Other Coin With Smart Contracts Is Also A Good Candidate(EOS,WAVES,BURST,OMNI)
Privacy Coin Couldn't beat ETH I Think

Ethereum can process only 25 tps compared to 2000 tps Tron. In a recent testing platform Zilliga managed to reach a rate of 2828 tps. This means that it will be difficult for the Ethereum to remain the king of smart contracts and ICO. And yet - it is worth recalling that the Stellar platform is now more convenient for launching ICO in comparison with ETH. As will be further - we'll see.

It seems to me that the most promising coins at the moment are NEO, Tron and Omni. They have prospects, but so far the situation on the market is very tense.

Comparing to ETH, We can say that almost all alts can compare to it, since there are platforms like waves and neo that also do what ETH can, it will just need more time and development before they can beat ETH.

today, when many other platforms providing the smart contracts functionality have hit the market, it's likely for the Ethereum platform to be replaced by some major alternatives available.i think neo is the one. it's popularly known as Chinese Ethereum. Like Ethereum, NEO also provides the decentralized network and also the smart contracts platform without any third-party indulgence. However, NEO has a number of factors where it outperforms Ethereum by a fair number. Such factors include the scalability in terms of higher number of transaction processing at once, multi-language support as compared to Ethereum's only language - Solidity, no hard forks, and many others.Soft Fork is possible but not Hard Fork because, it wants to prevent any random hard forks like the Ethereum/Ethereum classic debacle, so it is coded to avoid this entirely.

Yes, it seems to me that until no one can not even get close to the popularity of it. If you look at the technology, then many projects are just developing their products and promise to overtake it only in words on a real matter while competitors do not have

Ethereum's competitors have a lot in my memory. As long as it is a public chain, it basically says its competitors in Ethereum, but the fact is that no project is done. So I don't think one of the existing projects can really go beyond Ethereum.
