The original quote from BFL_Josh regarding the clearing of orders by September.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/announcements/692-bfl-asic-status-3.html

"We still expect the current back order backlog to be cleared by the middle of September or so"

Nary a "pre" anywhere in that sentence.  Wink

"We still expect"  not "WE absolutely 100% will".

Unless Josh himself tells us what this back order backlog term MEANT, it's still a guess and it's still semantics.

He was talking about orders and backlogs, thus he used the words orders and backlogs. There is no room for misinterpretation, his statement was quite clear.
The point is that when BFL gives us a date, they fail to meet it.

I'm still sad no one will bet me 2BTC that BFL won't even catch up on Jalapenos.

What? No one wants to give me free BTC for nothing?

Oh, I was waiting for a PM if anyone was serious! Between all the PMs I send & receive daily from my GB forum services & my posting activity, I have way too many threads active to pay attn. to all but the most important ones. Hahaha, I really didn't think anyone would take me up on the bet but yeah if someone is willing:

I'd be willing to bet 2BTC that by the end of September, BFL *DOES NOT* clear their backlogs of Jalapenos which is their fastest shipping model.

I'm confident enough to bet on that (even knowing the other bettor could be a BFL employee, insider, or even Sunny or Josh via sock).

define 'backlog'.  There's been several attempts in this thread.

Oh for me this is simple enough: they said they'd get through orders made by July 6 by the end of September. Had it all graphed out & everything. For the purposes of this bet, that would only include Jallys.

I fail to see how they can pump out 5 months worth of Jallys in 1 month when it's taken them 1 month to get thru a 3 month backlog recently.

So if they *ship* all Jallys ordered by July 6 by the end of Sept, I'd be out 2BTC.

Doesn't matter too much to me I also have a small bet on the *other* side regarding a sold pre-order & a small profit.

Do not forget that some may have upgraded their orders to the new product offering coming 2014.

I'd be guessing/hoping a lot of Jally pre-orders kept their place in line (bird in (semi)hand vs. 2 in bush) for the purposes of this bet, but strangely enough hoping they make the Sept. deadline on behalf of the buyer who purchased 2 Jally pre-orders from me.

Sure I'll take this bet for 2BTC - with the definition of 'shipped' being
that an USPS tracking number has been assigned and the USPS has picked up
and barcode scanned the package (i.e. it's on the USPS website).  This
avoids issues with customs etc.  The bet is that BFL ship all Jalepeno
orders made by, or before, July 6 2013 by end of September 2013.

Someone can quote me for the record.

I would be more concerned about the 14 day countdown until Sonny's parole ends.

I'll have the pleasure of meeting him on the 10th.

Raspberry.

Do tell

I will be visiting Camp BFL on the 10th of September thanks to Josh's invite.

I would like to witness this.

Be safe, #deadofnightbarnwoodthief.

A risk taker! I like it! Humans would still be swinging in trees if we took no risks. Hope I handicapped the bet enough and made it fair enough. I can see that you appear to be of sound mind and you're entering this bet of your own free will. I agree to your terms & will hold 2BTC aside in the event that I lose, in which case I pay you on October 1st: 2BTC or you pay me 2BTC.

We don't need to do an escrow, unless you insist, in which case I'll talk to dabs or BTCrow & we can split the fees.

I've bet several times now against timely delivery of mining hardware by various vendors, and I have yet to lose such a bet.

Will, I think you just lost.  I would never have taken that bet at that definition.  I have a feeling once the Jalapenos hit the price change, none will be shipped until all product lines hit the price change.

Wha!? Dangit, still new to that software. Thanks, I'll look into it.

Nice doing business with you as well! I haven't had a good gentleman's wager in a while. No, escrow won't be necessary. Two things work in your favor: Monarch transfers and refunds between now & the end of the month. Regardless, I think it'll be the easiest 2BTC one of us makes.

If we're both lucky I'll be able to tell my grandkids about the time I made a whole 2BTC bet and won or lost. Smiley
