Bitcoins will definitely survive for another generation or two. It doesn't just end with bitcoins not being king anymore but it ends when no one supports or ports bitcoins to exchanges any more. Sure bitcoins may fail, but I don't think we will reach a point that we'll have a financial crisis. We were good with fiat money, but with bitcoin gone, I think everything will be just fine.
