Good to know the staking lag is being looked at.

I tried consolidating a few hundred sub 1 HBN coins and it crashed the first time. Took a minnute the second time but went through.

Hobo Nickel rocks!

I downloaded v.1.3.6.0 of the windows wallet, ran it. All went smoothly, syncing will stop now and then but nothing serious. A bit of patience is often needed with wallet syncing. Great job. I single handedly mined 2 blocks this night. Wow.

very hobo, much minting, profit wow.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL  Grin But you're right, HBN is the best!

(We really have fun community, and that's great.)  Cool
May the hobo be with you.

Identical bug occurred in blackcoin, all the blocks freshly downloaded, then quit and restart, assert failure.
Also Novacoin dies in the same assert.
HoboNickels has been working ok for me, though.

Has someone tried to reproduce the bug with leveldb 1.15.0? Novacoin had pretty old version of leveldb.

Good to know. I used the leveldb src from the newest bitcoin, so it is a revision higher then NVC. Not sure about BC though.

current hbn has kMinorVersion = 13; in src/leveldb/include/leveldb/db.h ?

Anyways, I tested with novacoin, latest leveldb, deleted all the databases and downloaded again..  it did not die with assert tailure.
But this does not prove there are no bugs in novacoin..

EDIT: bummer. blackcoin has leveldb 1.15, so the bug is most probably in the novacoin code. Assuming blackcoin devs did not add their own bugs.

Yes I can also do this with current HBN multiple times, but just one random time and then it dies.  If it does happen with your newer leveldb version let me know.

My guess is it has something to do with the cached start up routine that NVC implemented a while ago. I also used that code, as well as BC. I am not sure if PHS did, but they just moved to leveldb as well. So it maybe interesting to see if the bug hits the stones.

So what does this mean
"Proof of Stake: 2% stake every 10 days!"
do we have to do anything or is it just simply keep coins in wallet ??

cheers

If you wallet is encrypted, you need to unlock it. Go to console and type

Code:
walletpassphrase 'yourpassword' 9999 true

where 9999 is the number of seconds you want your wallet to be opened.

can someone please update the mac wallet once it is closed by the red circle not quitting the wallet it won't come up unless you quit it and restart it

it should have a show/hide when you right click on the wallet icon to bring it up like the rest of the mac wallets.

Thanks

ryan. I will have a look as soon as I can. I think unick was trying to get it compiled for OSX, does anyone have a good set of instructions?

I think adding this line
Code:
dockIconHandler->setMainWindow((QMainWindow*)this);

To bitcoingui.cpp after line 538 should fix this. but I would need someone who can comile and test it. Otherwise I will put this in for 1.4 and see if max can create us another wallet.

Hey Tranz, if I use the line reservebalance=9999 and load my wallet with my existing wallet.dat file the wallet loads fine but says no staking because I don't have mature coins and the wallet does not freeze since the coins are not producing PoS. If I remove reservebalance=9999, load my wallet is when all hell breaks and the wallet stops responding.

Would it help if I used reservebalance=9999 and load my wallet then sent my 6753 HBN to another fresh wallet with new receive address.

You can lower the coins in reserve by lowering the number. If you have 6000 coins try putting 5000 in reserve. If the gui is good you can lower more, if not you can up it.

You can also use these switches directly in the debug window/console, instead of having to shut down and restart. So you can start with 9999. Then type reservebalance 5000 in the console and see how it responds.

About your second question, yes that will help.  You could use the advanced coin control and send some of the coins to another address. Does not even have to be another wallet.  I would send them over in 500 lots, not the entire lot at once. This way you could send some to trade and not loose coins days on the whole 6000.

By using both methods, you can allow some coins to stake, and then after they are mature, send those coins to another address, in larger blocks.

I have uploaded all my current work to github, ( https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels ) version 1.3.8 but I have not compiled a public release yet.  This would fix your issue with no intervention needed on your part.  Hoping to complete 1.4 here very soon.

Thanks for the reply, I used another wallet on my gaming rig and used the same wallet.dat file from my laptop and it works fine, PoS mines. Seem to be problem with my laptop and the HBN wallets? All my other wallets work fine on my laptop, Mint, TES, GRW to name a few. I am going to try copying the app/data folder from my gaming rig over to my laptop and see if that works.

Thanks for all the help Tranz.  Tongue

Update:

I transferred all app/data to my laptop and the wallet still hangs a bunch. When it is not responding the task manger say 37% CPU usage and 308MB RAM usage.

Wallet works fine on my gaming rig but not on my laptop.

Yes that sounds like the issue I spoke of. You gaming rig has a much better CPU so the issue is not as prevalent. But it would show itself again after a while. In any event, this will soon no longer be an issue.

Try not to run other wallets at the same time as HBN wallet.  On my slower machines it always leads to trouble.

On my gaming rig it reads 0% CPU usage and 315MB of memory usage, so I think it is a memory issue. My Mint wallet uses 26% CPU, 134MB memory and GRW wallet uses 7% CPU, 178MB memory. I loaded my DGC wallet and it was around 248MB memory usage.
