Ok, that's really wierd, so you have inflation sqrt thingy, until one day at 7 billion zero, zip, nada?
When is this cliff calculated to occur?
think we will see hand held quantum computers and personal space craft before then So you are part of the infinite growth crowd?

why 400 years is enough time? off world is one of the only places to go once we finish polluting the earth? or just need more room for population growth unless you think people will start living more green which is just as unlikely we can already see commercial space travel(very expensive) but it is here if you got enough Bitcoin/Dollar/Pound/Euro etc.. anything is possible no one knows the future

off world is one of the only places to go once we finish polluting the earth? or just need more room for population growth As a counter to this argument, I suggest you take a look a some of Tom Murphy's articles, starting with why not space. I was something of a Space Cadet in my youth, but I've become rather more cynical in my dotage. I don't think the shiny Futurama lies in our destiny, nor a green eco-utopia either. With a bit of luck we won't be going back to the stone age, but there are significant problems maintaining a first-world lifestyle for more than a tiny fraction of the planet's population in the medium to far-off future.

I will stick with my optimism for now makes me feel happy at least and I am a keen amateur astronomer(when we get clear skies) so love to dream about the stars besides a personal space craft could just be some super rich person who has there own private craft/vehicle paid by personal investment for their own use only e.g Richard Branson or any of the super rich that own private jets etc.

Charlie Stross has another (rather similar) take on this at the-high-frontier-redux (I remember reading Gerard K O'Neill's High Frontier back in the 1970's when I was still at school, oh those heady days of optimism, sigh). Anyway its rather OT so I'll shut up now.

R. R. Tolkien, Steve Jackson, Ian Livingstone, Douglas Adams to name a few this is also reflected in my games for me its a way to create those worlds I dream of Both good points like Utopian and bad points like Apocalyptic are used as they could be just as likely and make for good stories and game play

Sorry for sparking off topic debate, but I don't think we have enough energy to go into space now that we wasted most of our high quality hydrocarbons.
I think people will be forced to live simpler lives pretty soon, even though I hope we can sustain the internet with low energy tech.
Cryptocurrencies (even though they need to use FPGA or ASIC; litecoin is energy madness = poor performance and high energy consumption) and virtual reality (Oculus Rift) are big hopes for me.

I'd add Iain M Banks and Vernor Vinge to that list, though I don't buy the Singulatarian argument myself. It looks like Moore's Law is pretty much on its last legs (just look at the slowdown in the rate of improvement in CPU performance over the last decade), so unless "Positronic" technology ( applied phlebotinum) comes to the rescue, its getting mighty crowded at the bottom.

It works well in Books and Games though technology has hit a wall in the manufacturing process currently used and new methods do look many years off that is why we are seeing the core count go up and more parallel computing going on its the only way to scale atm

one more thought about the sudden end to the block reward at 7 billion blc, due to the time scale of hundreds of years, im sure the community would be able to continue the steady flow of blc minted or alter the generation rate, by either pushing an update, or relaunching a new coin that is backwards compatible with the wallet & transfers ownership into the new system. blakecoins long term mining reward strategy makes it feel like it exists eternally while still preventing hyperinflation. the overall percentage increase of blc would continue to decrease compared to the total available supply of blc. eventually the increase in supply would be so gradual that it may not be perceivable during the timespan of a persons life. slow and steady wins the race :-D

currently you can expect to get somewhere around 300-400blc per day from a 7970, but of course this changes with the difficulty.

BlueDragon747, thanks for getting the pools back online I've been meaning to ask you about this peculiarity I noticed. It used to be that when I solo mine, each block I found would have a unique address for the transaction, but lately they all have the same address. The coins are still valid, but I am curious if this is a bug or what happened.

uhm...sadly i see that there are few buy orders on the exchanges... As BlueDragon said the exchanges are new, but if you look at the trade history you will see that the volume for BLC is actually pretty high, and most of the trades occur from people buying into sell orders, rather than people selling into buy orders but don't worry, I've noticed a steady increase in BLC trades and it will only get better as it's added to more exchanges.
