The main trouble is that we all call ICO scam, although they become such for various reasons!

I would interpret this claim very loosely:

From the article:

Quote
“Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

I laud the author's attempt at quantifying this, but I cant take anything seriously that uses community sentiment to determine if something is a scam.

I meet with a lot of projects and for the most part, it's clear that there are very smart people working on very difficult problems. The large majority of them will fail but I wouldn't consider them scams.

is this data analysis accurate? where did this analysis come from? I think there are many successful ICOs until nowadays and the project has a good development, the success of ICO is not only judged by the hard cap achieved, but also how the progress of the project

If you are planning to invest in ICO then I advise you to first check the company and developers and only then invest in ICO.

there are many ico scams right now and so are spreading so before you join the bounty make sure that you are legit as well as the double investors are careful of joining because the legit ico is now less and for you ma scam you can ask the best looking ico.

The scam ICOs are even growing in numbers compared to the past years. Conducting an ICO is easier than traditional crowdfunding that's why it is a target of many scammers. I hope this will be regulated accordingly.

I don't believe in that. The number of scam ICOs, and the ICOs in general that get the funding, is smaller and smaller because people that got burned in the past don't throw away their money anymore. That's why some of the good ones never get the chance to shine. But that's life, if something is good it'll eventually rise above the bad I guess.

ICO scam is much less than 80%, but you still have to be careful.  It seems to me now better not to risk and buy coins on the market.

maybe because of poor market conditions, many ICOs fail because sales are not optimal because investors are more careful when investing.

If you called it 90% of ico are scam you are saying the truth, too much of them  are actually spoiling the purpose the blockchain was created for, people dont trust crypto because of scam cases.

Scam ICO is a big problem for investors. it is because of such projects that the ICO industry is going through hard times. To solve this problem, it is necessary to completely change the structure of the ICO.

I see that it is very difficult for Russian projects to raise funds. But I think that the situation in the future will change in a positive direction. I personally invested in 5 Russian projects!

At this moment it's impossible to run an ICO. Every listing site, every podcast, every newssite and YouTubers all ask a lot of money just to list your ICO or to mention your ICO. That's just not the way we want to do it.

We've been working for 6 months to make a working new US based exchange with fiat in/out, dynamic pairing, all with an easy interface for everyone, but nobody wants to do an interview or even listen to us.

Only thing these influences want is money.. They don't give a peep what your project actually is.

We just want someone to write about us, pro and cons, just honest opinions about our project. Is that too much to ask?

I don't think anyone should find this too surprising. There are definitely good projects out there but they seem to be moving further and further away from the traditional ICO Crowdsale type of fundraising and more towards accredited investors and institutional money.

I think we wil continue to see a lot of scams and cash grabs due to people trying to make their fortune before this space becomes heavily regulated.

Investing in crypto is high risk and ICO's are the highest risk of all but getting into one of those 1.6% projects is the dream.

"Promising" and "Successful" don't seem like they could be measured objectively. These numbers also seem incorrect, especially only 8% of ico's making it to an exchange. This ICO advisory group obviously wants to make the case that they are needed in the space so keep their bias in mind. There are still ICO opportunities for unaccredited US investors under "Regulation CF" though it's significantly more complicated and expensive for the issuers/company.

Yes and I have gone through this phase too but experience teaches you the signs to identify the scam ICOs which are they will ask for an unrealistic soft-capital for the ICO to be successful and then give a high fraction of the ICO investment to advisors and management of the company

Who knows it will decrease  soon and I'm hoping.
