I almost feel that we need a relaunch of this coin, with a nice official site, and logo implemented client side, as that guy previously is saying. The developer has had a nice idea he added in, but doesn't seem to be too interested in further development.

He said he is working on the wallet to incorp the new features, perhaps he just does not come on the forum much. However yes he should be a little more active really to give confidence.

Really though there is nothing stopping anyone making a website for this coin.

I created (very simple Smiley ) website
http://datacoin.info
There is still much to do with design etc, so if someone wants to work with it - please PM me. I bought domain name for 1 year and small VPS (hetzner vq11)

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I PMed dev several times, but he's offline. I think he's hardly coding now - if you look through his sources, you'll see that he announced many features (i.e. in his perl scripts: look inside envelope.proto). So hopefully he'll present these implemented features soon. Anyway, if he disappears (don't think so, but maybe), there is 'plan B'  Cheesy I was PMed by several forum members who can work with updating the coin. So we can create a small team and move forward with developing.

Ok cool thanks for the update, it strange though such a great idea not finished by the guy who thought it up in the first place, but great news there is a team that can add the features this coin can support.

I am confused about the fees for storing files. What is to stop someone from modifying the code to just insert files for free? From what I understand there is nothing in the algorithm that would actually prevent that.

This will be rejected by the network. If everyone gets the 'modified' source, it will be possible, but it will not happen. So no one should use unchecked source . You can add some hacks to bitcoin client and get 'verified' transaction, but all other clients use correct software, so your transaction will be rejected.

Now the difficulty plus how, not the money. There is no mine pool?

There's official website, there is a great encouragement to Chinese miners group, currency in the hands are not willing to sell!

More perfect, our collective application

Sorry, I'm not promoting this coin to exchanges just now, still working with development. But it will be great if we push coin to any exchange!

I added "store\receive" data to\from blockchain to block explorer!
http://ec2-50-112-43-170.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/perl/explorer.pl

click 'Get or add data' link at the bottom of block explorer or follow direct link
http://ec2-50-112-43-170.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/perl/data.pl

I limited data size to 1KB to avoid spamming network with messages like 'test test test', also  sent 50 DTC to block explorer wallet, it will be enough for 1000 test transactions. Feel free to check it, but don't sent more than 1-2 messages Smiley

I'll be unavailable for several hours (need to sleep for some time  Cheesy ), after it I can answer questions and continue development.

We are working on a pool software and a miner.
We will open a pool once this is done.

I was inactive on this forum and apparently someone got my credentials and used my account in scams.
I have changed the password and I am sorry for any scam that occured.
