What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?
First and foremost, We must keep our private key secret, it's our own choice what kind of wallet or device to store our keys and I prefer to use my ETHER wallet as storage wallet for my altcoins, make sure to create a different private key on every alternative coin.

I'm surprised no one has advised up till now that downloading MEW from Github and then using it locally is a very good safety measure as well for ERC-20 tokens and Ethereum itself.

I'd never use something on website when I've the option of downloading it and running it locally on my machine.

When you own cryptocurrencies, you need to protect your confidential data and the access to your funds. With Ledger Nano S, secrets like private keys are never exposed: sensitive operations are isolated inside your hardware wallet within a state-of-the-art Secure Element, locked by a PIN code. Transactions can’t get tampered with, they are physically verified on the embedded screen with a simple press on a button.

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?
The best way is to install Linux, all operations are carried out only in this operating system. Never store your cryptocurrency on an exchange or online wallets. Better yet, if you buy a hardware wallet. Do not store the private key in the public domain. You can divide it into two parts and store it in an encrypted archive on different media.

I can only say and argue in terms of maintaining the security of altcoin accounts is only one way to keep the private key as good as possible. The safest place to keep the private key is not the place connected to the internet, but the other way around. Because our expertise is much more under the expertise of hackers.

A cryptocurrency wallet is very simple and it is one of the most popular options for keeping your altcoins safe. It is a digital wallet that you can use to store, send and receive various cryptocurrencies. The wallet consists of two keys.

you can protect your altcoin if you not login into your wallet using other computer or laptop.

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?
I don't think we can have big control over the amount of the altcoins that we have in exchange ( here I mentioned about the exchange Because most of the traders are putting Thier altcoins in directly exchange to make easy trade ) .
And the main point of the security of the exchange wallet directly depends upon the services of the exchange only .
I remembered well that in year 2016 there was a big loot of the etherium coin from almost every exchange that was direct hack of the exchange.
But beside of these things we should have better communication of password and with active Google authontucator .

If your altcoin is in personal wallet, make sure you have an hard wallet which is very save from hackers.
And if you store your altcoins in exchanger wallet, make sure your exchanger account has a 2FA login authentication
