it is a question of all altcoin holders who keep it in their wallets, moreover there are still many cases of fraud and data theft causing the loss, I personally only limited to maintain internet connection and alert with the domain and address used

And Clear all the history on your computer every week or so. This will higher your chances that you aren't getting phished or key logged. I would also invest in anti-virus as well as hardware wallets that disconnect your private keys from your computer. Having all these things should be ample for security.

With the recent hack in myetherwallet,it is important to take security very seriously, what I do is to secure my tokens in a wallet that doesn't even have a website to hack, like eidoo and imtoken.

I would say using hardware wallets like Ledger Nano, TREZOR or KeepKey. The private key never really leaves the device when conducting transactions and checking balances, so you are safe there. There is also protection if you get your device stolen, because (I think that is the case with Ledger) when a thief enters a wrong PIN several times, the whole contents of the device self destruct and you can get your assets back with redeeming them with 24 words backup phrase. But you have to keep that list of words somewhere safe. For maximum security I would suggest a hardware wallet within a guarded bank safe to which you only have access. I would also suggest spreading assets across many wallets if you can afford that. Other than hardware wallets, paper wallets (cold storage) can be a sufficient alternative. But do mind that if you get those stolen, everyone can retrieve your assets, because your private key is not protected. They are useful for smaller amounts of tokens/coins.

how to protect altcoin to stay safe is:
1. Keep the private key wallet well
Private key is a secret key, and only you know. If other people know your Private key, then most likely the person will be able to take altcoin you have.
2. required to enable feature (2FA)
enable the 2FA feature is quite important. Two of these authentication factors work to provide identification of the true access to your Bitcoin wallet account. It also gives notification to the real owner. Notifications that appear when the bitcoin wallet can be accessed via sms, or also others.
3. Use a stronger password for your altcoin wallet
A strong password is a password that has approximately 12 digits and above. Besides it can also use a combination of uppercase and small, numbers, as well as certain symbols. That way, then you have established a sturdy fence as your protective security.
4. does not store large amounts of altcoin in the altcoin exchanger site
5. Back up altcoin wallets with hardware

The best way to protect your altcoin is to buy a hardware wallet. I've read that you need to press some buttons before you can send or receive in other wallets. Hackers will have no way to press that button if they are going to hack your wallet. Better buy a hardware wallet. If I am right, it is a nano ledger.

Almost everything is on my hardware wallet at this moment, i spent over $180 but i bought a Trezor wallet. It is more than convenient while you need to store your cryptos.

Also, it is pretty easy to use and manage, i really like it.

Keep them in a cold wallet. The main thing is not using cloud services to store passwords, they are often hacked. Also it is necessary to not  store your coins on stock exchanges.
Oh, this is a good choice

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?

The best method to protect your altcoin is to install TREZOR or Metamask and don't trust in goolge because the other site is the phising site. Secure your private key always don't trust anybody.

Same as the method you'll do in bitcoin, same with the altcoins, just simply protect your keys, your passwords, and then be sure to keep the email you desired to put on your account be as private as possible, store your keys ans passwords to the safest.place you know, and lastly be sure to put a backup to your accounts if it ever gets hacked you can just simply change your password if you feel like someone has breached in.

For me, the most simple way is don't store your private keys in your email or computer. The most safe ways is using a hardware wallet if you have one, which is the most secured, add some metamask extension. The reason is hardwallet has some extra layer of protection that can easily block those hackers from getting your keys, you will need to manually input your keys using the phrase or cryptographic passwords from your seed.

Use proven electronic wallets. Never say your passwords and so on. Also make your email more secure. I think that the most important thing is never to lose our vigilance.

I can say that your safety in your hands. Store in a safe place your private key. Make good passwords and don't store them on your PC. Don't click any strange link that has been sent to you through email or dm.

You just need to pay more attention to the security of your computer. Hackers use various vulnerabilities in order to implement hacking, so you need to quickly fix known vulnerabilities.  Wink
