It's not obligatory. It should be set coz in case when a network attack is detected NRS will start ignoring nodes without a hallmark. More coins u have - less ur node requests will be ignored.

By the way I should inform you that I didn't participate in the voting process in the nextcoin forum coz I don't have an account there (and won't be making one, unless they make it https enabled)
Anyway I vote for the complete opensource at the 3rd of January. Is there anything else to vote for?

Removed accounts.nxt, the data r generated on the fly. If u see incorrect balance then rerun the client (but still report this bug, I can't reproduce it).
Enabled blacklisting, now it uses "blacklistingPeriod" (in seconds) in web.xml to automatically "unblacklist" nodes.
Added http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=getPeers to list all peers. Details of a peer can be obtained via http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=getPeer&peer=88.198.210.245.
Trash icon now works for remote users if allowedUserHosts is set to anything except "*".

Edit: Delete "peers.nxt" before launching this version.

I have the disappearing balance and recent blocks don't update automatically.

Had the same thing.  Try downloading the nxtfiles and extract in the nxt client folder, this will get you close to recent block chain.  Start the client but don't open the web gui.  Watch the blocks.nxt file in your Nxt folder to see if it increases in size, mine fluctuating from 0 while the blocks were updating.  Once it stops fluctuating from zero, it will show a steady file size, 4,302kb for example, this will mean the blocks are up to date and you can open the web gui and it should update in realtime.  Your disappearing balance is just from an old block chain that hasn't updated the transfers to your account.

I have both the old *.nxt files and their relevant *.bak in the folder. Delete *.nxt and rename *.bak?
