[...] I can't see how the chosen method for the distribution of the necessary 1 billion NXT is fair from this point of view. But i must admit that i do not have an alternative at the moment. Will be thinking about it. Were there any other alternatives considered?
I follow this thread for some time and find the concept of next fantastic. I hope it prospers! But I feel the same unease as you do regarding the initial distribution. Though I have no solution for a concept that starts as 100% PoS. If you don't start as 100% PoS but combine it with PoW to achieve a fairer distribution, that could mitigate the unease regarding distribution a little bit. Early adopters always have an advantage - at least if the mission is successful. But they have the risk of paying money for nothing. What about the distribution of Bitcoins? I don't want to hijack this thread. But if you can live with a PoS/PoW hybrid, have a look at Peercoin. I think Nxt and Peercoin could complement one another. If Nxt works like designed it might become a great payment processor while Peercoin might tend to become a safe store of value. Just my 2 cents. Continue that great Nxt development!

coinmarketcap.com removed nxt again.
I think being on coinmarketcap.com is good for the promotion of NXT. But i do not understand the reaction like: we are number 4 or number 5 and soon we will beat peercoin or litecoin. The marketcapitalisation is not a good indicator for the usefulness of a coin or acceptance by the general public. If 71 stakeholders sit on 900 million inactive NXT. The price of the coin will be determined by demand and supply of a small part of the cointotal. This leads to unrealistic (high) prices for NXT and marketcapitalisation. The indicator would be more realistic if the distribution of the 1 billion would be 100%. Yes, but the other hand if all 1B was distibuted the price would be around 0.000000nothing and no one would know about Nxt. Most people have found Nxt on coinmarketcap.com, saw its growth and decided to find out more. Then they realised how great it is and bought some. I found my way to Nxt through coinmarketcap as well. I don't know who are the stockholders, pro investors or just random people but I think it works for Nxt after all.

If I open my wallet in the VPS, is it insecure and if so, why is it more insecure than doing the same in my laptop? There is a risk (which you cannot control) that someone on VPS company has a backdoor access to your server. Does the security risk come from someone intercepting your private key when you submit it to your server? Is there any risk *after* you have unlocked your account on the VPS? I'd really like to run my account's node in a remote VPS and I'm hoping I could destroy/recreate the VPS before entering my private key in order to minimize the risk.

How safe is it to transfer NXT with the current attacks?
not safe. pretty sure I got ripped off. What is the problem? idk I bought and withdrew nxt over 24 hours ago but haven't received them. dgex said the first withdraw was completed, and doesn't say the status for the other. the client says I have 0 transactions, but theres all these unconfirmed transactions for accounts that aren't mine. I also tried going to the coinarea faucet and they said they sent me 1 coin which I haven't got either. im positive I used the right address#, they match up on dgex and in my client. it could just be that im a noob though. It took me a long time to get everything installed, and I was told to go to https://localhost:7875/ because its more secure but I can only get on http://localhost:7874/ Could you please provide your Nxt wallet address? (the number next to the lock) 3662269097817803698 Does anyone think there would be a problem with scheduling a cron job to restart the Java app every so many hours? Or what is the safest way to restart the process without risking corruption of the blockchain?
so it is normal for me to have to run the java file every time I get back on the client? http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=3662269097817803698There should be 661 Nxt on this account, but hte amount in the blockchain explorer is 0, which I really can´t understand. Anyone with an idea? I don't know why it would say 661. I tried to buy 160, plus the 1 from the faucet would make 161. maybe a random person tried to give me 500? I did post my address in a few threads but nobody said they sent anything

Hy together, I am new to this whole alternate cryptocurrencie stuff but NXT has caught my attention. Unfortunately I am kinda broke like nearly every Economy student is + it is Christmas and my girlfriend also swallows a lot of....my money. So if you are in a good Christmas mood, I would be really really thankful if you got some NXT to spare so I can get started. Every single tip is highly appreciated! Thanks in advance and merry Christmas! 5993363209290947620 A few coming your way, enjoy

Please wait for the blockchain to get synced or you can try to delete transactions.nxt and block.nxt and try to let the server reload the full blockchain again. That´s what I did. It took around 10 minutes.

Just got this e-mail:
Dear DGEX Trader,
I would like to take this opportunity to send a quick heads up and thank you once more for becoming a DGEX customer.
At DGEX we have seen rather impressive growth during the 26 days the web site has been up, especially in the past few days when the trading volume has propelled DGEX to the top ten bitcoin exchanges with a daily volume close to thousand BTC a day at its peak. And that's only trading BTC against a single cryptocurrency - NXT!
While I started this project to just test out the waters whether my old trading platform would offer anything worthwhile to the NXT community - it indeed has done that. NXT's value has recently been relatively stable around the 5000 satoshis mark, which implies a 5000% (50X) increase over the OTC price quoted in the open market after the initial NXT were released from the genesis block four weeks ago.
The stellar volume with a steep growth curve indicates that we're just beginning the journey for NXT to become a star amongst the new, more sophisticated cryptocurrencies after Bitcoin - 2nd generation as we like to say in the community at nextcoin.org.
The sudden growth brings along its problems, notably lack of resources when ten fingers and one brain is trying to handle the whole show of trading - but we're adapting. The web site is being redesigned, charts and trading data added, trading functions improved and servers upgraded to more powerful and redundant to ensure 24/7 service. Team is currently being gathered, consisting of one full time and at least one part time tech developer and one customer service personnel, in addition to myself overseeing and working my bottom off on all of these tasks.
Before the new resources are deployed within a week or so, I'm asking for your patience should you encounter any issues with your operations at DGEX. We are currently about one and half days behind in replying to site support tickets, although a great majority have been resolved promptly or they never were any issues but just network lag etc. However, as a customer you are of course concerned if there is no certainty in which phase your money transfer is, this is fully understandable.
Please do not submit multiple support requests as they only tend to clutter up the situation more and cause further delays. We will respond when we have a chance, and will ask for more information from you if your issue is still pending.
We have some exciting prospects ahead for DGEX soon, will be integrating more services to the DGEX platform to cater for the greater public exposure that is expected to boom with the release of the NXT source code in the first week of January. More details a bit later.
With this I wish you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays - for the lucky ones who have such - and may the New Year be prosperous for us all together!
Kind regards,
Graviton Capital DGEX.com
