I read that. I still don't get it. What devcoin appears to have done is create an ecosystem where 90% of the wealth is controlled by a very small group, maybe just 1 person. Corruption is inevitable in this model. You are going to be gamed by bounty hunters, gamed by everyone else who thinks they can blag a free handout, and gamed by the 90% wealth holders who will want to do everything to ensure their wealth steadily increases. And the 90% person or group will see it as their wealth over time.

This project appears to be idealistic but good intentions get corrupted by messy reality.

The gaming by bounty hunters and hack writers hasn't happened yet. For the 90% wealth holders to see their wealth increase they have to be fair to workers, or else the good workers will go to something else and the devcoins they hold would be worth little.

Although devcoin isn't corrupt now, most organizations become corrupt with time. If that happens to devcoin, then the good writers could just move their articles to another wiki, make another coin to fund it, say a reformcoin, as described here:

Ideally, there would be some way of making money independently, where people could write or do something and get paid what they deserve. However, I've never seen any way to make real money working alone. The advertising revenue for most blogs is less than 10 $/month. Donations from making an open source program are also usually less than 10 $/month, even for fairly popular programs. If someday there's a way of making real money independently I'll try that, until then there's devcoin.

It's hard enough to find decent people for BitCoins, you have no chance of getting decent people for DevCoins.

In December, a devcoin stock exchange bounty was posted:

It was later forgotten, and in the meantime an OpenTransactions server which supports devcoin stock trades was made:

However, it didn't get a bounty, because the devcoin exchange bounty was forgotten. On August 09, someone asked if the devcoin exchange bounty was still available and upon reading it and discussing it with Mark, I determined that the OpenTransactions server met the base requirements, so the base bounty is being released. Once determinations are made for the other bounty requirements, then the other parts will be released.

Because the bounty has been claimed, the next devcoin exchange would get 3/4 of the bounty, the next after would get 2/4 of the bounty, and the fourth would get 1/4 of the bounty.

There are now enough devcoin nodes, permanent and transient, that we don't need any new permanent devcoin nodes. So there is no longer a bounty for new permanent nodes, nor a bounty for their maintenance. All current maintenance bounties remain in effect. When the first block explorer bounties were posted, it was assumed that they would be straightforward to maintain. However, it turned out block explorers need a lot of resources, and even with that they go down often, so they need more maintenance. To pay for that, the block explorer maintenance bounty has been increased from 1/5 of a share to 2/5 of a share. This will take effect in the next set of bounties, for round 15 at block 60,000.

Couple months ago I was merged mining all the cryptcoins and there was devcoin too. I didn't know where to get devcoin address but I've found strage info that devcoin is the same as a btc address, which I can use to mine and it will be stored in it.

Is that possible to restore dvc mined on btc address?

Devcoin addresses are the same as bitcoin addresses, a bitcoin private key can be copied into a devcoin wallet. An explanation is at:

There's a four generation share bounty for the first person who provides a devcoin windows executable, and a two share bounty for the second. It must be built from the August 22, 2012 devcoin files or later, from the developer files at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/galacticmilieu/files/DeVCoin/

There also has to be a brief explanation of how the executable was compiled, so that others can create their own executable.

It seems to work fine for me, so if anyone wants a GUI version of devcoin - with the proviso that mining is disabled in the GUI version due to thread problems that would make it crash if mining was enabled - grab it from that github repo...

It seems to work fine for me, so if anyone wants a GUI version of devcoin - with the proviso that mining is disabled in the GUI version due to thread problems that would make it crash if mining was enabled - grab it from that github repo...

I compiled and ran it, it worked on my Linux/Ubuntu machine, so Mark gets the twelve share bounty:
