Hello, I'm having trouble accessing devtome.com reliably. I can load most pages, but I am not able to log in without it timing out. Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it a local problem?

Have you tried another browser?

..
But I didn't understand well (my English is not so good) how the "bounties" (donations to projects) are distributed and who decides which projects will be supported?

The bounties are distributed through generation, from the 90% that goes to developers. People suggest projects, if there is general agreement that the project is worthy, and can be accomplished within a week, I'll describe the bounty and then award the shares if someone fulfills the requirements.

In future, if the devcoin market capitalization stays over 1 million for at least a week, then we can fund bigger bounties, for small applications and modifications to big applications, stuff that could take a month of work:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty#capitalization_1_000_000_usd

For those bigger bounties, I plan on asking devcoin citizens (people who received coins from generation in this round or the previous round), to describe projects directly, then vote on them with 0 to 99 range voting:
http://rangevoting.org/Why99.html

The top three projects would get major bounties (close to 1% of the market capitalization), and the next three would get medium bounties (half that size). If at least one of the projects is successful and there is not too much controversy over awards, we'll have another round.

I have read something of a Swiss cooperative (devda.ch?) involved, but don't understand exactly what is her function.

That is Icoin's cooperative, he could explain it fully. One of the things devda does is host the devcoin web wallet.

Quote
Also there seems to be a conection to Vircurex and Cryptostocks, or not?

Devcoin is traded on vircurex, and devcoin companies are traded on cryptostocks.

Another question: Is it possible to write in other languages (in my case, Spanish and German) for devtome?

No, for three reasons.

1) Bitcoin advertising is almost all in English.
2) It would be almost impossible to fairly apportion earnings for articles that have versions in multiple languages.
3) Devtome does not have language subdomains.

However, what can be done is that native English speakers could offer their services as copy editors, for a percentage of the earned devcoins. I suggest any writer who is willing to copy edit articles add their forum profile link to:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devtome_editors

Anyone who wants help writing an English article could contact someone on that list. If someone does copy edit an article, please post how long it took and the number of words, so that people can estimate how much they should charge.

Yes, I tried it in both Chrome and Firefox. I also tried it on a different internet connection (at my university) and had the same problem. Weirdly enough, when I mistype my password the page loads fine, it only seems to timeout when I would have a successful login.

Where does this agreement take place, here in the thread? Or is there another discussion platform?

I have also a question about the wiki page you gave me the link:
Quote
Devcoin gives most of the generation money to open source revenue projects, like devtome, leaving only about 10% for bounties.
Is devtome currently the only project, or are there more? If so, where can they be found?

Quote
Devcoin is traded on vircurex, and devcoin companies are traded on cryptostocks.
Yes, I have seen this. But recently, when Vircurex was in trouble, a certificate was shown at this site with the owner being "devda.ch". I thought, for this reason, that there was a personal/organizational connection between them.

It's a pity that devtome has a English-only policy. I understand partially your reasons. But I think when the project grows, it would be good to allow other languages or to set up writing platforms in other languages to make it a more "universal" project.

Sorry for the many questions Wink The reason is that I am really interested in this and perhaps one day I could contribute something. I will definitively keep an eye on it.

Here in the thread.

Devtome is the biggest project. Other projects devcoin funds are listed at:

If the founders on any of the projects at:
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/bitcoinshare.html

say that you're helping them, you'll go on the list also. An excellent project, which already has many people helping and getting devcoins, is Open Transactions:

I added a random port (rpcport=8999) to my devcoin.conf file because I was getting this error originally (I was running it alongside of bitcoin, I assumed it used the same default port?):

Devcoin sounds really interesting so far! I hope it becomes more popular (you guys seem to be doing a great job with that).

I experimented with some images based on bitboy's bitcoin graphics. The text and colour can be easily changed if anyone has suggestions.

Thanks for the help!

I had to mkdir the ~/.devcoin/receiver/ folder because it didn't exist.

I think typed the following code to copy the recevier*.csv files into my newly created receiver folder:
Code:
cp /home/devcoinuser/devcoin/receiver*.csv /home/devcoinuser/.devcoin/receiver

And added the rpcport and port to my devcoin.conf file.

Now upon running ./devcoind I am met with these (errors?):

I don't think they are errors, just info blurbs that for some reason are spat out at console instead of to the log. I see them too sometimes. I think it is just saying it found three identical copies of a receivers file, which is good, it should find identical copies as it is going out on the net to get the new ones that didn't come with the package, and needs a majority of them to be identical in order to accept them.

Hi Grc,

Thanks for the logo, please post or message me a devcoin address from devcoin on your computer or the devda.ch web wallet, and you'll get 3/5 of a generation share in round 23.

This will also make you eligible to earn devcoins by marketing:

The round 22 receiver files have been uploaded to:
http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/receiver_22.csv
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/receiver_22.csv
http://devcoinblockexplorer.info/receiver/receiver_22.csv
http://devtome.com/files/receiver_22.csv
http://devcoin.darkgamex.ch/receiver_22.csv

The account file is at:
http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/account_22.csv

There were 125 receiver lines, so the average generation share was worth 180,000,000 dvc / 125 = 1,440,000 dvc. At the current vircurex price of 1.48 mcbtc/dvc, that works out to 1,440,000 dvc * 1.48 mcbtc/dvc = 2.13 btc. At the mtgox price of 93, that works out to 198$.

People on that list will start getting those coins in round 22, starting at block 88,000, around May 1. The procedure for generating the receiver files is at:
http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin#generating_the_files

The next bounties will go into round 23:

There were no objections to the exchange bounty doubling:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1776730#msg1776730

the original bounty is at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg553722#msg553722

so it is doubled from 12 shares to 24 shares. Two bounties have been sent out, 12 shares to Kumala and 9 shares to Mark, so a top up of 12 will be sent to Kumala and 6 will be sent to Mark. The remaining secure exchange shares are 12 shares, then finally 6 shares.

The were no objections to the windows bounty doubling:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1776730#msg1776730

the original bounty is at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1358839#msg1358839

so it is doubled from 6 shares to 12 shares. A 6 share bounty has been sent out to K1773R, so a top up of 6 will be sent. The remaining bounty is 6 shares.

The windows bundle works, the problem is that people are having difficulty installing it and getting it to bootstrap the receiver files. So the remaining windows bounty is now for improved installation and/or bootstrapping, maybe an installer could be made which installs devcoin-qt and devcoind, and makes copies over the receiver files to the correct place or something like that. There's no point in making another windows devcoin exe, since that part already works.
