At the current difficulty and my electric cost of .08/kWh I am below break-even, that is I can buy BTC cheaper than mining with the Cube.

But I have found that mining scrypt coin with an ASIC is above break-even because ASIC script miners are extremely power efficient, that is because of the tradeoff of processing power to memory.

An example: Gridseed (5-chip, $99) crypt mining only does not even need a fan and only consumes ~4W running at ~320Kh/s. Monthly figures: Converting the script coin to BTC produces about .03BTC * ~$400/BTC = $12 at a cost of $0.23 in electricity. There are better mining script solutions and more becoming available.

The cube was fun while it lasted and with luck may be profitable again.

Anyone wanting to buy a fully functional ASIC Cube make me an offer.

What makes you think that anything needs to be jumpered to make it work. It just looks like it just has power output connectors and a connector for 110vac. It seems to be designed to supply additional power, not power a computer motherboard.  Have you tried it?

Ya it definately needs to be jumped.  My Comp will not allow me to connect so i have to jump it.

What kind of computer are you using?

If using a laptop maybe something like this...

When you connect the PSU do any lights come on on the cube?

That your computer will not connect (whatever that means) does not mean that there is a power supply problem.

Backing up, what are you trying to accomplish? Power an ASIC Cube or something else?

none no lights on cube or psu. But the PSU won't come on unless it's jumped . I would jump the PSU off of my computer but there are no openings to connect to.

Do you have two PCI-E cables between the PSU and the Cube? And a 110vac power cord to the PSU? A 30A fuse installed in the Cube?

It is a modular, addon style PSU, not a standard ATX PSU with a 20/24 pin connector.

The Epower-450cd PSU requires a source signal via a 4pin Molex to power on.

Is there a PSU that Bestbuy sells that is affordable and can be used for the cube with nothing else needed?  Bestbuy is the only place around to bu something like that.

Don't rule out adapters/splitters mate. You might can split and/or adapt an existing Molex/SATA power cable in your machine. I am sure your HDD and/or optical drive are powered by either SATA or Molex and adapters/splitters are much more affordable than a new PSU plus BestBuy is WAY overpriced. I would suggest Craigslist if you are set on going that route.

just bought a Corsair Builder Series CX 500 Watt ATX/EPS  80 PLUS (CX500) hope this works good for a cube. $88 overnight delivery

Are you on the right subnet? 192.168.1.x

I just performed these steps so far
Plug in a network cable from the Cube to your computer.
Disable Wifi if applicable.
Navigate to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Centre -> Change Adapter Settings
Right click on your ethernet adapter -> Properties
Click on "Internet Protocol Version 4" and click properties
Select "Use the following IP address" and enter the following:
IP Address: 192.168.1.1, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254
Resume normal steps.

I installed the driver for the cube and i'm using a mini USB to connect to the comp

Open your Command Prompt and type IPCONFIG, press enter and see what IPv4 address is posted. You shouldn't need to port into the Cube via USB mate, just ethernet cable. Are you using a router on your network?

DSL router? or modem? The Cube and computer must either be connected to each other via ethernet cable OR on the same network via a router. The USB port is for debugging the Cube, not setup, as far as I know anyways.

The cord is coming straight from the modem. My comp onle has 1 ethernet so does the cube how can they be linked?  Cord to router then from router 1 cord into each?

You will need either a router or network switch so they are both on the same network.
Proper setup should be...

DSL Modem ---> Router/Switch ---> PC, Cube and other network devices

ok i have the switch plugged in and 1 cord going to the comp and 1 cord to the cube.
When i follow these steps:
Plug in a network cable from the Cube to your computer.

You shouldn't be able to. You're just going to use those settings to configure the cube and get it to an IP you can use easier.
