CoinHours:

The new wallet (version 20) now shows the "CoinHours", which users earn for holding Skycoin.

what i need to do for get coinhours? Should the wallet be online or some other requierments?

The wallet does not need to be online to accumulate coin-hours.

You will receive one coin hour for each Skycoin held in an address for 1 hour.

We will launch the Skycoin to CoinHour exchange as soon as possible and get market up.

SO is there coin hours accumulation active now? If there are Skycoins in an address?

I hate having all these wallets that dump information into my laptop.

Way better the wallet is just an interchange to the blockchain and i just need to remember my seed.

Is the coin now fractional to a decimal place?

If so let Cryptopia know so it does not cost 1sky to do one transaction out.

Yes. CoinHours were designed in from the begining. They are just being showed in the wallet now.

And in next version you will eventually be able to spend them as a separate currency.

>What are the coin hours good for?

CoinHours are like gas.

There will be an exchange and a market exchange rate between Skycoin and CoinHours. So you will be able to exchange your CoinHours for Skycoin or Bitcoin etc...

CoinHours will be used for bandwidth for VPN and Socks5 proxy, but will also be used for renting VPS nodes by the hour (skywire miner cards) and later distributed exchange fees will be in CoinHours. CoinHours are also used for Skycoin transaction fees.

On Sky-Ledger we will have several hundred tokens (over a dozen have already been launched, including a few that have raised several million dollars in their pre-ICO like solarbankers.com ). All these coins on the platform will be buying CoinHours to rent Skywire Miners nodes (a new coin can spin up ~400 nodes on demand, just like you can on EC2 or golem network. This is why there are 8 boards on the first generation Skywire Miner hardware unit) and for bandwidth and for caching blockchain (blockchains are being moved to CXO and CXO will be moving onto Skywire).

Skycoin CoinHours can also be used to pledge collateral on the OTC market we are building and for other purposes.

The number of Skycoins is fixed and capped (like gold).

However the amount of storage/bandwidth/cpu power of the network is uncapped. It can expand by millions of times, so to make the equations for pricing balance (so that unit prices for bandwidth will not increase with the Skycoin price), we introduced the CoinHours currency (which is uncapped).

CoinHours are used to allocate scarce resources between network participants in a fair way (bandwidth, computation, file storage and transaction rate. CoinHours also stop spamming and DDoS attacks.

The number of CoinHours increases massively and linearly in time, so we are creating mechanisms for CoinHour burn (so the number of coin hours reaches a peak and equilibrium). The CoinJoin servers are going to burn most of the CoinHours and we are going to burn all the coin hours in the developer and foundation wallets to reduce supply.

CoinHours increase linear with time (Each Skycoin Holder receives one CoinHour per Skycoin in their wallet per hour). So they receive CoinHours for free for holding Skycoin.

However, CoinHours also are burned extremely quickly. Each Skycoin transaction burns a minimum of 50% of the accumulated CoinHours in the balance (which may be decreased to 30% in the future).

So the CoinHours become more scarce (and worth more) as the monetary velocity (transaction volume) on the Skycoin network increases.

We may also also eventually have CoinHour balances depreciate 1% per month eventually (if the CoinHours in existence is not reaching a stable equilibrium value by itself). To encourage users to convert the CoinHours, spend them or give them as gifts.

The new roadmap looks great.

But i think you should have the year indicator before the events not after.

EG.. 2017 indicator then going up list the events. then arrive at 2018..

becasue the events are going up the page the year should be lower than the event completions.

My thoughts.

--------------------

There is no mention of a re-working of the whitepapers.

Should this not be a priority so that your marketing that has started has reference material.

This is a technical coin and so the documentation needs to be up to date.
-------------------

Why is it only one decimal point change in the coin?
All other coins have 6 to 8 decimal points.
----------------------

Can you clearly label the team members on the website.

Even if they are anonymous - Give them all a title and github name or twitter name.

List the team on the website, give a job title, brief technical background and what they are responsible for.
Give them an individual twitter feed so they can post their github updates.

eg,

SkyCoin-TeamLeader

SkyCoin-WebDeveloper

SkyCoin-MeshNet

etc

Even have a likeness or avatar for each of them.

------------------------------

In my opinions alot of the alts and also BTC and its family maybe will go through another boom market.

And the whole crypto is still in speculation mode. It is clear on the roadmap that launch is after 2018.

But marketing and growth and price can increase between now and then while this boom is occurring.

---------------------------

Also the telegram was set up wrong. Some people can access the news slack but are locked out of the BB and the main slack.

Why not promote the close of the telegram and the slack channel.

Move completely to discord.

https://discord.gg/9TY3MEj

This is the skycoin discord chat link

Focus on one area or if it is too spread around none of them get productive.

 ------------------------

Lastly on the login or wallet.

IOTA has very easy access.

Heat has very easy access.

------------------------------

Can you copy heat or Ard or Nxt.

Easy access to login..

Super long seed needed.

81 characters etc...

Full node earn.

Lite wallet downloads...

and web wallets accessing sky full nodes.

Even seeds with pin protection like heat.

One of our handicaps has been unwillingness to shamelessly promote like the other coins (who have only marketing).

We are in a stage of the market, where almost none of the top 500 coins have any substantial or real economic value. Their valuation are completely based upon marketing and the ability to create capital inflows by attracting new buyers to purchase the coin at the inflated post-ICO prices.

We are working on an extremely aggressive marketing campaign now.

We are in a bubble. The amount of money the media firms are asking for, for publishing three articles is enough for me to hire eight people full time for a year to write articles and launch two media outlets.

The people dumping money into these coins are unsophisticated, unable to assess coins or the technology, easily improved by appearances (often false) and are short-term and emotionally driven. The people buying these coins basicly think they can rich and achieve massive returns by buying the most popular coins and the coins everyone else is buying. The retention of these coins is also extremely bad because they do not have any user retention and the majority of coin holders do not even have wallets. They are just paper assets traded on an exchange like a real money fantasy stock market.

Some of the coins are an exception, like Ethereum, Arc, Steemit. That actually have users, a community and people who have installed and use the wallet. However, in the case of Steemit the price will decrease until the capital outflows being paid to the miners, equal the inflows. So even coins with a large userbase and users can only increase in the short term or up to an equilibrium value because of how the balance of capital outflows and inflows are structured.

Without applications to retain the user community and involve them in an activity, the coins are just pump and dumps whose only purpose is to attract new money and buyers.

It is actually mathematically impossible to balance the equations and create a sustainable crypto-currency that is based upon more than mere speculation, without substantial real economic activity behind the coin. So in the long run, commodity back cryptos (solar energy, bandwidth, water, consumables, resources, sand, tungsten) with fixed infrastructure are going to be the next trend and boom in cryptos.

Huge amounts of money go into "smart contract platforms" goes in, but no real economic use that people are willing to spend money on (besides speculation on the price of the token) has been found for these platforms.

For Skycoin marketing we are focusing on
- community growth
- user base growth (of applications)
- capital inflows/outflows

While we are still focused on the fundamentals, I think we have decided that we are going to enter the altcoin fantasy stock market horse race too.

Enough of the applications are ready that we can begin aggressive marketing.

I do not know if the developers are ready to get on twitter yet, because they seem pretty busy.

The transfer fee is surprisingly high.  Huh

EDIT:
i moved the coins to my wallet and had 18 coin hours. I created a new wallet because i had no seed for the first one and send the coins to the new wallet - but now its only 2 coin hours left. Where are the other 16 coin hours gone?
But the transmission from wallet to wallet seems to be free - or are the coin hours paid for transmission fee?

When you do a transaction, currently at least 50% of the coin houses in the outputs need to be burnt.

When you do a transaction
- you create an output owned by an address in your wallet (the change)
- you create an output owned by the receivers wallet (the money you are sending)

If you have an output with 10 coins and want to send 3 coins
- you send the person 3 coins
- you send 7 coins back to yourself

Currently, when you do a transaction the CoinHours are split evenly between the transaction outputs.

If you have 100 coin hours in the outputs being spent
- atleast 50 must be burned
- 25 coin hours will go to the first output (your change address)
- 25 coin hours will go to the second ouput

In the next version of wallet, we will allow users to split how to split the CoinHours and to show the fees.

We may also reduce the minimum CoinHour burn from 50% to 30% or 20%.

Or make CoinHours decay 1% per month, so that they eventually reach a peak/cap and Coin Hours created equals Coin Hours being destroyed.

The roadmap for the next three months is

- Launch mobile wallet in beta
- Launch new desktop wallet (done, debugging)
- Start skycoin distribution campaign
- Launch OTC market place (Skycoin, Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc)
- Integrate the OTC market into the wallet
- Add OTC market for Skycoin CoinHours so that they can trade.
- Finish website rebranding (new logo, branding kit, branding guide)
- Submit press releases to media
- Hire technical writers to produce content and PR writers
- Have advertising campaign and banners ready
- Launch Skycoin on two new exchanges. We are trying to engage the larger exchanges, but they do not answer emails because they are getting so many requests, so its difficult
- Building up a list of youtubers to make videos about Skycoin
- Building up the twitter, reddit and telegram community
- Building a community on Skycoin BBS social media platform (we want to get Skycoin tipping working on the platform and get people using it)
- Get skywire.skycoin.net working and up (global network dashboard)
- Ship the first 300 Skywire Miner hardware units
- Begin doing interviews

Update:

The Skycoin blockchain programming language CX, now has OpenGL support and key input support.

https://cx.skycoin.net

In theory, we will be able to embed video games (like poker or real money multiplayer dwarf fortress) on the blockchain. But we still have to figure out how to do random number generation on blockchain and on-going R&D.

We will be able to get the block time down to 200 ms per block (5 updates per second), which is almost enough to run FPS games on. With independent chains for the game and using a variant of Skycoin's Obelisk Consensus Protocol with leadership election and fall over for consensus.

In contrast, Ethereum block-times cannot be less than 30 seconds and has an inconsistent or random block rate that precludes applications for turn based video games

We have proposals to get down to 33 ms per block which is enough for 30 physics updates for second.

We might want to implement multiplayer Sim Ant on blockchain and do some test cases for multiplayer gaming.

In the CX model, each game object is a software object. Each game object exports "affordances" which are actions that can be invoked upon the software object. Affordances have restrictions and invariants checks for when they can be invoked (by who, under what context and under what conditions).

For instance, an object representing a ledger for a pile of money, might only allow the "send money to" command to be invoked if signatures/public key validation passes (the owner of the pile of money, signed the affordance or operation). Or a player in a poker game can only invoke or commit to a move, for their own player (verified by a signature) and is unable to make moves for other players (because of inability to fake the signature for the public keys for the the other players in the game).

One of the reasons we chose a cluster architecture for Skywire, is that we expect to be running thousands or millions of independent blockchains, with each application having its own blockchain running at a different tick rate over a different set of servers. We are not trying to force every application on to one giant blockchain, like ethereum. We are only forcing users to subscribe to applications which they are using, instead of replicating the data/transactions for every user on Earth.

- Begin doing interviews
very much deployed, I think it will be useful not only me, thank you.

How does Skycoin solve scalability problems?

The project is very interesting, but I must say there's another one with very strong tech, which was also being developed for 4 years, the one which had DAG first actually, but then abandoned it due to its scalability problems. I'm talking about Radix (formerly eMunie), which is coming out this year. They already have made their first private deployment live in one of the 2017 YCombinator startups.  Not a pilot, trial, but a real product.

If you haven't heard about it, you should have to, because it will really be a game changer, not Byteball or IOTA.

I'm always looking for interesting tech and my top 2 are Radix and Skycoin Wink

please answer.

Also, whats the load on skycoin, in terms of how many transactions a sec? It states 40x faster than bitcoin, can we go faster? If so, when and how?

We are only forcing users to subscribe to applications which they are using, instead of replicating the data/transactions for every user on Earth.

that's a very cool use of the blockchain. I really like the idea and would really hope that its good to go in the sky coin network
