HFT will only work with clearing firms in place. Requires centralization.

We'd like to give away five Digital Silver Coins on the forums, but we need the community's help. How would you recommend we promote our Digital Silver giveaway in such a way to promote BitcoinTangibleTrust Services, Counterparty's DEX and to promote XCP? We want to launch the promotion on Wednesday, April 16th, right after US Tax Deadline day when everyone's most likely depressed they had to pay taxes on their digital holdings.
Our Community Ask: Will you help us out and share just one good promotional idea that we might use?
doge had a plan to put a doge ad on nascar, and thanks to the large crowd of doge subreddit, they were able to bump the visibility on /r/Bitcoin a couple times, well maybe issuing a lotto asset, where any XCP addresses can buy the asset with XCP, and you random the five owners from all the share holders. - the lotto asset has to be cheap, if it's not cheap, it's not giveaway right? - anyone can buy more than one lotto assets, but it does not matter since you will only grab unique addresses of share holders, - what discourages one person to create generate many addresses to buy many lottos is btc tx fee, since buying with many addresses need many transactions, money, and a lot of effort to automate it - what prevents one to try to buy all the lotto and resell it is you issue a very large number of assets, so that it will never be sold out at a profitable price, - well, at this point most ppl who holds XCP are forum members, or redditor, so anyone who are capable of using XCP should be eligible - counterwallet should remove the technical friction/learning curve, so be sure to launch it after counterwallet is stable on mainnet the community could help upvoting this on reddit, if not success you could try purchasing ads on /r/Bitcoin /r/dogecoin or some gambling sites, etc

not BTC not etherium (which is a white paper +++ at this point) are meant for HFT. HFT is a specific vertical area with nothing to do with counterparty or BTC for that matter. NXT's 1000 per second is a claim very far from being proven or relevant to us.
None of the distributed exchanges/coins can do High Frequency Trading(HFT). HFT requires that you execute trades in 0.0000001 seconds, not in 1 minute(Nxt) or 10 minutes(Bitcoin). The throughput of a coin does not matter, only the confirmation time and the reliability of transactions. apart from speed, DEx in the current form is not suitable to use for small size trade, because user has to send cancel_order to adjust price or size costing tx fee, whereas canceling/adjusting price/size of order in centralized exchange is free, user is charged when orders are matched. What DEx is suitable is to move large walls from centralized exchanges to it. If you are to create a big sell wall, you might not want to trust a centralized exchange and it would cost you a lot of trade fee.

I guess the point is, if a protocol exists that can cut the tx time in half even... and be very secure, there is competition.

Well, half of the solution is out there for a longer time and called "payment channels": https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Contracts#Example_7:_Rapidly-adjusted_.28micro.29payments_to_a_pre-determined_party

Why does blockscan.com always show the dex price as 0.01 when that is clearly not the price on any exchange?

Well yeah. That's the last price that XCP was sold on the dex. It wouldn't show any price on an exchange.

I know it wouldn't show the price of an exchange, but if you're correct it's the last price that XCP was sold for on the dex it shows the Dex is never/very rarely used by anyone ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif)

I think the people that have spent the time getting counterpartyd up and running are probably larger stakeholders and are more informed on what XCP can do. They aren't going to sell cheap. It's probably a stand off on it. When the wallet comes out people just trading it as another coin will be able to use it and will sell it just at whatever the price is.
