I'd love to buy more, but at a profit of about $15 at the current difficulty/exchange/power$, it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Has anyone been able to get the x6500 to work with eldentryls TML. If so are you able to post some instructions.
The TML now ships with built-in support for the x6500's USB interface. There have been several success reports. Please use v1.52 or later; there was a bug in the x6500-USB-support code in 1.50{a,b,c,d,e} that would cause it to get stuck and stop mining. |

Isn't there a bitstream out there that achieves 305Mhps per LX150 (BitFury?), or is that vapourware?

Isn't there a bitstream out there that achieves 305Mhps per LX150 (BitFury?), or is that vapourware?
It exists but not available to general public. Anyway, it wouldn't run at that speeds on boards that are available. |

Windows or Linux? I was able to set it up on windows okay, you just have to load the WinUSB driver as opposed to the one Windows installs automatically. It was able to autodetect after that. My linux rig is on ubuntu 11.04, which doesn't appear to work with BFGMiner, so I haven't tried on linux yet.

I've tried running it a whole mess of times, but never does it get far enough to actually start mining. Try setting up a virtual machine (or two) to do some testing. At least one Windows VM and a Linux one of some sort (I used vanilla Ubuntu to make my life easy in the short term). Then you'll be able to perhaps isolate whether some aspect of your host Windows install is causing the trouble. And if it works in a VM, hey, you've got a portable, archive-able mining setup. |

The longest time I've ran the x6500s with BFGMiner (2.9.0 and 2.9.1 using the overclocker bitstream) was about 3 days until one got sick/dead then the others followed soon after that. With 2.9.2 and 2.9.3, the sick/dead problem would start several minutes after starting the miner.
I went back to MPBM, even if the rejects are bit higher, at least I haven't encountered any problem even if left running for weeks.

I've been running MPBM for 30+ days straight with no issues. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it. Does BFGminer have a Munin Plugin?

BFGMiner = less rejects but unstable (especially if the x6500s are connected to a hub)
= mining with it for days without encountering SICK/DEAD issue is like a lottery
= no leakage of shares to backup pools if primary pool have no issues
= very very low cpu usage (about 10-25% on my Sempron, underclocked to 800MHz, less than 1% on fast cpus)
MPBM = more rejects but stable (no issues even if the x6500s are connected to a hub)
= peace of mind knowing that power outages and net problems are the only issues to worry about
= a small portion of the hashrate is always leaked to the backup
= 50-60% cpu usage on my underclocked Sempron, less than 1% to 10% on fast cpus

MPBM is the way to go at the moment for software. BFGMiner, as was said by a previous poster, is very unstable. My boards get sick after about 15-30min of mining, then require a power cycle and new firmware upload.

After more tests with BFGMiner 2.10.0
1) Seems a bit more stable on dedicated machines (probably the cpu usage of other apps/programs affect it).
2) Stability is increased for some reason if one bfgminer window is dedicated to just the x6500s. If you have other devices, run them using another window or use cgminer or other mining software. (worked with my bfl using 2.9.0/2.9.1 though)
3) And as i've mentioned before, if connected to my cheap powered usb hub from ebay, devices will start to get sick within 5 mins.
Using MingW, I tried to compile an x6500 only version of bfgminer that wont detect other devices, but I get stuck with it not finding the jansson library (copying the library from the older versions didn't work) and a make install also was a no go.

With my rev2 FPGA0 runs fine and loads the bitstream with MPBM, but when it comes to detect FPGA1 it says "Bus 1 .... more than 99 devices on JTAG chain" .. Sounds like something isn't right on the board. I would get in touch with Fizzisist and let him know; he's pretty awesome with support. BTW just a note; I would mine on a pool with stratum support. Works pretty good with X6500. |
