Lets wait and see if the owner responds with an update. The pool may be down for the night or  It may be another pool heist.

This is a calculation I use to estimate the value of a coin based on the mining difficulty alone:

5 Mh/s ~ 600 SMC / day

A decent day of mining yields around $75 at 5 Mh/s.

Current BTC price: $785

$75/ $785 = 0.09554 BTC / 600 SMC = 0.0001592 BTC / SMC

So roughly 6280 SMC / 1 BTC

This of course excludes what future coin prices could be, but it does give you a look at current mining profitability and where the coin is trading at.

Let me know what you guys think!

Mining a new untested coin and one which is not on an exchange is riskier than mining a coin that is on an established exchange, therefore it should command a premium price for the extra risk involved, as in more than .0001592

you sir are a gentleman and a scholar!
Is there any way I can +1, bump, vote or something similar for your rep?

I guess you could click the Trust link next to my name? :-) And spread the word on P2Pool, it needs more nodes :-)

As a miner I am pleased with the ~$180 / day rate my rig is turning out right now. However, from a trader perspective, the current market price of .00038 seems a little high to buy in at and is only propped up by that 4.5BTC order at .00035. I'll wait he pulls out before entering any money into the market.

False. It is much risk for buyer, not for miner. That is why price should be less.

BTW, how can I receive my 60 SMC bonus?

Some donate will be good))))))

Miner has the risk at wasted opportunity cost.  Buyers and miners have risk, that's why there is potential for greater reward for both (at the time).

Yes, but miner loses only electricity and buyers loses electricity+miners margin. If miners believe in coin they shoudln't sell, but if they sell, then they don't believe in it, then why buyers should believe and buy? If you sell, you think that it is weak, then put lower price thats all.

Without promising a giveaway, right?

http://freesmc.tk/ no giveaway still.
http://deathexchange.net/smartcoins.php not yet a giveaway.
http://smartcoinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14 can't be a giveaway.
http://smc.cryptopools.com/ offering block solver giveaways soon, mustn't be a giveaway.
http://smartcoinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19, maybe there is a giveaway?

Check where your nose is because you must be smelling scam somewhere else.

If you're referring to the reservation coins, they're coming. From what I've seen, only dumpers are asking for the coins so frequently.

Well, you promised coins for early adopters... Where are they? 60 SMC for pre-registration. Tell me or update OP with this info.

There where over 1500+ people who signed up. They have to process each email one by one, and generate a redemption code.

Several people have gotten their awards, just look in the past pages. I'm sure you will be getting yours in 1-2 days. Have patients, the devs have been working very hard to have a successful first week.

Also, giveaways have been banned on the forums if you didn't know already.

I suggest watching the official smartcoin forums, that's where all the hosted giveaways will be.

I rarely support any bitcoin/ltc clone these days. I mainly invest in 2nd generation/technology advanced coins.

But,
I am supporting smartcoin, due to the effort and time. If you read the first post, they've been planning this launch for about 2 weeks now, they wanted to launch with everything ready to go. They already have several pools, block explorer and on a minor trade site.

That's a lot for just the 2nd or third day of the official launch.

Smartcoin seems very promising, because the devs behind it are actually working hard. Unlike 90% of the alt coins that are just a copy-paste and go.

Edit: Smartcoin was officially announced January 5th. Just to give you some perspective on how long ago it was announced before launch.
