It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

To Ben (piuk),
I am blown away by the amount of AWESOME content you have created and put on your site.
ex: https://blockchain.info/nodes-globe

Blockchain helped me do a double spend yesterday. 2x transactions of 4 BTC. Thankfully, I am an honest individual.

Edit: hmm I tried a few different passwords of mine and I was able to log in.. Could've been my fault. Still something caused the iOS app to loose it's password which had me confused. Sorry for the red herring.

Glad to see you got it sorted.

Added thanks.

Thanks. I've actually had a User unable to spend coins from his wallet due to that transaction, for some reason it wasn't pruned from the database properly (should be sorted now). Good to see he hasn't been scammed anyway.

I am trying to add my private key to my wallet but it keeps telling me "unknown format", it is a compressed private key copy from my bitcoin-qt client. Any help?
Compressed private keys are not supported yet (I assume it begins with a L?). I need to read up on how the format has changed.

Mine and my friends wallets are showing as disconnected.
Is this happening to anyone else?

Feature request for the android client: Integrate Google Maps / GPS.

Idea

The user must set:
- Username
- If he wants to be always visible on the map ( he will be also visible on a dedicated page on blockchain.info )
- If he wants to show available in a range ( chosen by the user ) of Km/miles
- If he wants to be available only if someone will be near him in a range ( chosen by the user ) of Km/miles ( he will appear on the map with a coloured dot )
- If he wants to be available only if someone will be near him in a range ( chosen by the user ) of Km/miles ( the map will just show that there is someone that accept/use bitcoin near the place but it will not show the dot )
- Friends-list: the user can chose to be visible only to some users that he selected as friends.

Some other options:
- Notification if the app find someone near a range ( chosen by the user ) of Km/miles

This is just an idea that can be easily improved.
The main point is to encourage and make easier the hand-to-hand market with Bitcoin, or simply to find other people to talk about this project near our home Smiley

There's some kind of a bug where input values are being parsed wrongly:

http://blockchain.info/tx-index/6571418/11e5e14905705d22839bd55febfc96bb356af8c03a7556583fe1948d1a18b165 (pic) (first input, says 0.04 btc, which then leads to 0.03 btc fee when there actually isn't one)
http://blockchain.info/tx-index/6476360/0 (pic) (here the value is correct)

Same bug yesterday led to this.

Didn't know where to put this so I put it here.

What might it mean if blockchain.info has heard of an unconfirmed tx, but I haven't and neither has blockexplorer?

Is it possible to request data through the API on an address, but without all the tx's?
That's quite a lot of data there I don't need.

That it's probably a spammy transaction, same as the one from the link in my post above was.

I tried to send funds from an address:
https://blockchain.info/address/1BLnJbrkAzJL2gDMgF7durrnpJAD3xpQeu

and get an error "can not spend newly mined coins for 100 blocks" which is perfectly understandable except these coins aren't newly mined. Huh

Now I do have an address which has newly mined coins so maybe that is confusing the blockchain wallet.  Weirdly I got the same error trying to send coins from 2 others addresses and when I checked a few minutes later they had transfered even with the error.

On edit: all the tx went through so I guess it is just a display thing.

Thanks, yeah this was a bug with the way inputs were group. Should be fixed now.

Feature request for the android client: Integrate Google Maps / GPS.

Nice idea the density of bitcoin users needs to increase though.

What might it mean if blockchain.info has heard of an unconfirmed tx, but I haven't and neither has blockexplorer?

Blockchain.info ignores fees, transaction size and some other constraints. But it's most likely due to tx not meeting the minimum fees.

Now I do have an address which has newly mined coins so maybe that is confusing the blockchain wallet.

The error is to show that some funds cannot be spent yet, so if there is an additional error about your balance not being sufficient funds this is the reason. There should probably be some kind of indication that the error isn't necessarily fatal.

The UI for confirming the e-mail address is odd.

Normally, web-based apps have a form with fields, where you enter the value and then click a button to submit.

The only button next to the 'verification code" reads "Re-send link"

So when I enter the code and then click a button, it of course, sends me a new link with a new code.

What wasn't obvious is that the form (apparently) does a check on each keypress or paste, and as a result as soon as I've entered a valid confirmation code it registers as confirmed, without me clicking any submit button.

Functional, maybe.  Intuitive for a web app, nope.

Putting in a Verify button or something like that (in addition to the Re-send link button) might make it easier to understand.

So the sender was able to get it to you but it faded out before it ever got to me? Must he have been directly connected to you for that to happen? I guess you are well connected so that is reasonable.

This one looks legit to me:

I'm not able to send any coins currently Sad I haven't tested receiving but every time I try to send something it proceeds as usual but my balance isn't altered, the transaction isn't shown on the list and no coins are received. What might be the cause of this error? I thought it'd be faster to post here directly instead of sending a support email.

EDIT: The problem was resolved through email, thank you very much Piuk!

+1 on this.  I feel kinda stupid but I also managed to mess it up. Of course once you hit resend the current code is invalid.  Strangely for me (chrome latest version) it didn't "auto check" until I tabbed out of the box.

No reason to get fancy just have a Verify button.

Anyone get the backup to Google Drive working.

I get an error:
Quote
Error Saving to Google Drive.

Be sure you have installed the My Wallet Chrome App and blockchain.info is listed in your Google Drive Apps.

I do have the "My Wallet Chrome App" installed but it doesn't seem to do anything other than load the blockchain.info webpage.  Blockchain.info isn't listed in the google Drive Apps despite me giving it permission.

Sent a donation this is really shaping up to be a solid platform.

feature requests:
a) can you include a setting where the wallet will auto-backup to email whenever a new private key is imported/created?
b) on the send payment screen can you include a "total" (for send many payments) and a "remaining balance" display.
c) I like the idea of using google authenticator but how about an option for only requiring it on a system you haven't logged in from (and then cache it for 90 days).

Just
https://blockchain.info/blocks shows ozcoin.com as the link - a domain I do not own.
ozco.in I own but is used for mining nodes primarily.

would it be possible for all Ozcoin links on blockchain.info be changed to https://ozcoin.net please Smiley

cheers
