PoS convo., my reasoning for the hardfork over the wallet swap. Long story short if the hard-fork is determined not to be an option (because of timing and/or negative feedback) by
we will go direct wallet swap with an external developer (simpler, easier - who hopefully joins us a little also as a core team dev.) and give about 2 weeks notice for people to swap their coins.
<+myeagleflies> Regarding PoS - I doubt switch is going to cause huge spike in price since whole market is in bear mode. However it would be good to have some, even sketchy timeline. Do you know when the new dev is going to work for us? Or he has not confirmed his availability yet?
<Rofo> he has not confirmed, hes very good and has the skills do to a hardfork but is very busy
<Rofo> timing is too important at this point and weve waited too long though, so if its a no this week we'll go into overdrive and just wallet swap on bittrex
<Rofo> that can be a final timeframe because the hardfork route has been very negative
<+myeagleflies> cool. sounds good to me
<Rofo> if youd like to know my reasoning for the hardfork over the wallet swap
<Rofo> its because generally 20-30% or more of the coins are never swapped over
<Rofo> and those people lose their coins forever, its seen as a sneaky way of gaining greater market control without it being public
<+myeagleflies> I know and agree. we discussed this in the past
<Rofo> it looks terrible to people ive been in conversations with
<Rofo> either the exchange keeps them and sells them for easy profit
<+myeagleflies> I can suggest maybe finish code and announce swap a month in advance?
<Rofo> or they are lost forever with unhappy users
<Rofo> yes i think a month at least gives a good timeframe
<Rofo> time to just bite the bullet if we have to
<+myeagleflies> so I agree hardfork is cleaner but right now it does not look like a promising route
<Rofo> yes
<+myeagleflies> maybe even 3 months?
<Rofo> i dont think people will be happy with 3 months
<Rofo> if we do hardcore promo and warning i think a month at least gives ppl air to breath that its actually coming
<+myeagleflies> ok, justo wondering how to make it more probably to send the message to all interested parties
<Boreiv> many people have done wallet swaps in the past
<+myeagleflies> from my point of view noble is kind of stable and even slowish so giving warning long time in advance may look good
<Rofo> yep wallet swap is easy, i chose the people i did though because im very fussy and believe in trust/rewarding people who seem genuine
<Rofo> and the hardfork was the tougher option and looked better under intense longterm scrutiny
<Rofo> but we dont have the luxury
<Boreiv> yes, and community appreciates your effort on that part.
<Boreiv> exactly
<Rofo> but if we get PoS done we can move into what was planned next
<Boreiv> at some point, the traders themselves have to take responsibility to take care of their own coins....
<Boreiv> :p
<Rofo> yes, but at the same time they should be able to trust the sanctity of the blockchain to not 'disappear' their
coins
<Boreiv> ofc
<Rofo> but weve got 100 other ways we've proven/gained trust so it doesnt look so dodgy anyway lol
<Boreiv> i cannot think of single other coin that has followed what nobl has done
<Boreiv> there's not much someone can do to make people trust you when you are dealing with crypto altcoins
<Boreiv> unless they want the dev to work while eating grass and drinking honey and milk
<Boreiv> from bees
<Rofo> lol
<Boreiv> to some people, nothing less than rofo's neck on a leash tied to their bed post will suffice
<Boreiv> in the name of 'transparency'
<Boreiv> at some point they will have to accept that they can't have their cake and eat it too for the sake of their own quick flips
<+myeagleflies> Boreiv: in ideal work I'd prefer hardfork option. or if we had much more money and could attract someone great and knowledgable to do the coding. however as things are as they are I think progressing with wallet swap is best what we can do now
<+myeagleflies> and I like giving 1 month notification
<Boreiv> agreed.
