Vertcoin is the only peer to peer currency that cannot be mined using asic miners, and there is as of yet no technology available to defeat this. (True?)

I think more specifically, its not that it can't be mined by ASIC chips (it can't with the current scrypt ASICs) but because of the "Scrypt-Adaptive-Nfactor" which results in increased memory requirements over time, it makes it more expensive to produce and every time the Nfactor changes you'll need a new one. So I think its more that its not profitable to make ASICs rather than being impossible.

Total lifetime coinage of 82 million places supply below litecoin, currently trading near $20 each.

Its 84 million supply, same as litecoin.

Market cap for litecoin currently at 2 billion dollars despite litecoins susceptibility to asics and heavy mining operations. This is a 4,000 times the market cap of vertcoin, which has a s a stronger potential long term position as a truly decentralized peer to peer currency.

Isn't the current market cap of litecoin a bit over 500 million USD?

Yes, sorry post above was via phone, I need to stop using that, Coinmarketcap has LTC at 564 million, Ripple is $2 billion, usually filters on my pc as it is not mined.

Going from memory, and thanks. Anything to add feel free, I am mostly trying to bridge the gap between geekspeak and the new crowd so mostly a blueprint here.

Ps- got your pledge, thanks and keep them coming (everything will be proof read!)

Approximately 43% of bitcoins currently in existence are held by fewer than 1,100 individuals.
The situation is even worse:
https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2Flyu771Y.png&t=536&c=z9Ikj3tV1b49_A

Thanks qbit, not sure when that is from but good to have data on LTC etc (will look for newest numbers), I pulled the stat from this thread Jan 1, seems legit

PS- Thank you gonzzo and nonny12 for the contributions, much appreciated and looking forward to prime time...

Why am I not getting any accepted shares? I have 2KH/s on the CPU and 10KH/s on the GPU and so far 0 accepted after an hour.

Are you mining on p2pool? Your hashrates are pretty low, you'd be better off on a traditional pool if so.

If you are on a traditional pool, did you recently start mining? Vardiff will start too high for your hashrates, and will take some time to reduce difficulty enough for you to get accepted shares - you'll just have to wait it out.

Yeah my hashrate is low because my system sucks. Its actually notably lower than mining LTC or DOGE though

But my problem is resolved. For some reason my dogewallet trying to sync prevented it. I closed it and soon started getting shares relatively frequently

Also my GPU is up to a more reasonable 22 KH now

1) Download modified cgminer scrypt if you are using a gpu with windows:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/ksgtrltpah1eqes/Vertcoin-CGMinerAleksNR3.zip

2) Use notepad++ to create a .txt file, then convert extension to .bat file.

This is the code I've been using for dual x280's:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
cgminer.exe --scrypt  -o stratum+tcp://us.bitcrush.info:3444 -u Weblogin.Worker -p Worker password -I 12 -v 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8191

This is the code I've been using for dual 6950's:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
cgminer.exe --scrypt  -o stratum+tcp://us.bitcrush.info:3444 -u Weblogin.Worker -p Worker password -I 12 -v 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 4096

*these are the TC's I found to work the best. Anything higher than 4096 will result in error. Any intensity >12, and your mining shares won't be accepted.

3) Run created .bat file

x280 = 275-350 kH/s
6950 = 125-175 kH/s

You can see the bitcoin distribution here:
http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html
45+ % are held by 1421 adresses (which is probably way less users)

For Litecoin its slightly worse
http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-litecoin-addresses.html
75+ % are held by 2209 adresses

I love the VTC concept and switched away from LTC. Keep up the great work!

Hello!

Our pool http://vtc.coinsprofit.com/ (88.198.14.73) does not receive a
block in the network Vertcoin. 300% shares already done. What could be
the reason?  Huh

Bad luck?

Otherwise, are you the pool operator? If so are you running the updated wallet? If you are not the pool operator, and the pool continues to not hit blocks (ie. after you are 1000% shares done and still haven't hit a block, so that it is very unlikely to just be bad luck) it's worth contacting the pool operator to ensure they have updated to the new wallet.

Pool operators, please note that to make MPOS display the correct interval between difficulty adjustments, you will want to update /var/www/MPOS/public/include/config/global.inc.php to set
$config['coindiffchangetarget'] = 1; - please do this on fork day, at or as near to block 26754 as you can.

I am the operator of this pool. Source code downloaded by links from http://vertcoin.org/ What does it mean "updated wallet" in this case?

Enjoying this coin so far! Currently testing with a 7850, running at around 145kh/s without errors. Any ideas on how to pump it up a bit (if possible)? This is my current config, which might helpful to some:

--thread-concurrency 4096 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1300 -w 256 -I 12 -g 1

setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

C:\vertminer\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://vtc.kilovolt.co.uk:3333 -u Username -p Password-w 256 -I 13 -g 2 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-powertune -20 --gpu-memclock 1490 --thread-concurrency 8193
