Planned downtime on vtcpool.co.uk

Due to the rapid growth of the pool (and the wider network), sometime today there's going to be a few minutes of downtime on vtcpool.co.uk for a server upgrade.

Well, that was eventful.

I shut down the pool to upgrade the server due to the big influx of new miners overloading it, and when it came back up again, stratum had got corrupted and failed to start properly - I think somehow the non-vertcoin, litecoin-scrypt module had got compiled in, but I certainly didn't do it! Took me a while to figure it out.

Sorry for the inconvenience - anyone who was affected, drop me a PM and I'll give you a couple of days zero-fees.

Hi Fastpow. All shares will be honoured/paid, nothing was lost from the database during the stratum outage, so all your payments will be exactly the same as they would have been if it hadn't occured. It may be, that when you say "less payouts" some of your balance is just accrued waiting to be paid out the next time the payouts cron job runs.

Please update your wallet (optional, but will help the network)

As I posted earlier, when I built the KGW release wallet, I forgot to compile UPNP into it. This has resulted in the DNS seeds taking a lot of the load, because not many users are accepting incoming connections.

It would really help if some more of you would re-download from vertcoin.org so you are accepting incoming connections so that new users can sync their wallets quickly.

Please update if you have a minute:

http://vertcoin.org/downloads/Vertcoin-setup.exe if you want the installer, http://vertcoin.org/downloads/Vertcoin-Qt-Win.zip if you prefer just the plain files.

As far as i know the vertminer should be ok for now, think we'd need to update it when the N changes.

The modified cgminer downloads on vertcoin.org have the modified N value hardcoded into the application. There was talk of adding the N value as a configuration, but we dont need to worry about that for over a year.

The first is because the pool operator didnt update his wallet in time, so they were on the wrong chain for a while (all blocks invalid). The second is because everyone and their mother wants to mine on bitcrush, and they just cant handle it. If you have a decent hashrate (>=1 mhash or so) you might have more luck on our distributed peer-to-peer pool; p2pool

Note: you do not need to pick the node with the most hashrate, they're all nodes in the same pool.

The N in the OP here is correct,

You should just download the Modified Cgminer in the OP post too.
If you could mention you GPU's here i might be able to help you with the command line required.

Cheers

Sorry about the Australian p2pool node going down, was running on a tiny server and when more people came on it went down. Trying to organise for a better server.
