vtcpool.co.uk is closing down
Please move your miners away, and withdraw your coins

Due to the huge success of p2pool, the issues encountered during a recent migration of the pool, and in order to spend more time on other projects that benefit VTC, I've taken the decision to close vtcpool.co.uk

The closure will take effect at 18:00 UTC on Thursday the 5th of June. The stratums will be put offline a day earlier to ensure miners who mine up until the last day can wait for coin maturity and withdraw.

Please withdraw any VTC you hold in the MPOS pool before the closure. The p2pool node suffered a failure between the last time I checked it and today, so has been offline for mining - the payout scripts continue to run, so will pay out any remaining VTC/MON between now and the closure.

However, I think it's spiraling the drain.  The merge-mining fad I think finally did it in.  It not only devalues newly mined coins but devalued everything that long time miners have worked for and it encourages the mine-and-immediately-sell mindset.

Why did you copy and paste a post someone else posted 6 days ago on another forum?

I presume you wish to buy cheap. So do I.

Lately I turned into more of a day trader...had to dump my vtc bag sadly...Not even mining vtc for now.

Might regret it but for now I'm out. Cryptos move too fast, it takes some massive balls to stick to one coin till the end.
Props to the other brave Vertans, no asics!
How many did you dump?

I gradually dumped 600 of them.
Recovered the losses trading and for now I'll stay in BTC and try to make some gains...

I'll keep an eye on Vert as usual though.

Probably need to look at innovating some features like anonymous node mixing.. even if it's just a centralized non-protocol change implementation.. to stay with the times/trend.

to stay with the times/trend.

Staying with the "trend" isn't our thing at VTC. I doubt you'll be seeing anything "trendy" from us - trying to following whatever is in vogue this week is pretty sure way to madness. We prefer to forge our own path, and make decisions based on what we think is good rather than what is in fashion.

guys
its been almost 2 month mining Vert Coin, i recently noticed that mining scrypt-n consume alot of bandwidth (almost 650 MB per Day)
i just wanted to know if is it the standard, or there is something wrong going on
by the way
i have two 7990 and i get 1300 KH/s
pools that im mining at is:
https://ecurie.io/index.php
http://vtc.crypto-pool.fr/index.php

i dont really wanna quite mining this brilliant coin but 700 Mb bandwidth consuming is too much for me, i live in iran which bandwidth are expensive i cant afford it

Interesting question, I never thought about bandwidth used for mining. I had a look at my traffic logs, and yes, something in the order of 500 MB/day seems to be possible.

First point: There really should be no difference in traffic between "normal" scrypt and scrypt-n. The client/server protocol stays the same, it's just the hashing algo which is changed.

Second point: To reduce traffic you could tune the stratum protocol. Set your miner's minimum diff to 128 or 256, so fewer hashes will be submitted to the pool. (I don't know if the pools you're mining at allow to set the diff manually. Read their FAQs or ask the pool operator...)

Third point: You could set up a local p2pool node on your miner pc. So the whole mining traffic will stay local. In exchange you will get additional traffic for vertcoind and p2pool network. If you use the available command line switches to limit vertcoind and p2pool to only a few peers, IMHO this traffic should be far less than mining traffic. But this is my thought only, if you choose to try this option, don't rely on this without measuring your actual traffic.

Has anyone noticed that VTC and EXE (scrypt-n) are at the top of the list for mining profitability?

Merged mining must be catching on. Smiley

Top for mining profitability means miners will mine us then dump for BTC, increasing selling pressure and forcing prices down.

We have been like this for almost a week and have remained floating around 1 USD. That's pretty damn good, in my opinion.

The dollar barrier is a giant psychological one, we are OK as long as it doesn't drop below it, but if it goes below a dollar there could be a fast sell off.

I think Vertcoin is pretty awesome and will be implementing anonymous wallets in late June, it's a good investment over the long term.
More info about that?
