Is microbitcoin.fr still in buissness and trustworthy?
Yep. Shipping to the US was expensive, but it arrived in 4 business days. The coin I got was funded early 2012.

Yes! Sadly he raised the price (1.35 instead of 1.25 before).

Suggestion to Mike: in your best practices for private key redemption, your blog says that the satoshi client does not support importprivkey. This should be corrected since the new version of the satoshi client does offer the feature via its "help>debug window>console" tab. Then just type help at the command line if you need it.
Question: are there high res pix of the 0.5 BTC coin and silver coins available ? I need them to update my shop (microbitcoin.fr).

The Satoshi client, as far as I know, does not support 30-character minikey redemption. It only allows redemption of 51-character keys. I posted high resolution pics to the Bitcoin Wiki, just look at my revision history. Note they aren't professional shots, but at least they are higher than screen resolution.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

I posted high resolution pics to the Bitcoin Wiki, just look at my revision history. Note they aren't professional shots, but at least they are higher than screen resolution. I can see where the confusion comes from as the term "private key" is sometimes used interchangeably with "mini private key". Boussac, the mini key you obtain needs to be converted to the 51-char key (WIF) by either going to bitaddress.org and inputting your minikey into the details page/tab or inputting it into Casascius' key gen tool. Then import it using the importprivkey command from the debug window -> console tab. Initially I, too, was confused about this as well so I can see where the misconception or overlooked details may come into play.

why don't you buy physical LTC from smoothie? Mike has been encouraging competition for a long time. Now that finally some shows up, why not support it? Maybe it'll bring prices down back to sane levels at some point.

Yep using bitaddress and the satoshi client is the simplest, most natural route. I stll think the satoshi client should support direct mini private key format import.

When I was young, there was a game and puzzle shop that I liked to visit. One day, I came across one of those little brain-teaser puzzles. It was called ALCATRAZ, and it consisted of a very strong metal-and-plastic cage, with a large steel ball bearing inside. Your task was to figure out how to remove the ball from the cage, without bending or breaking anything. I struggled with it every time I visited the store for months, and finally saved up enough money to buy the goddamn thing, because inside the packaging was a tiny slip of paper that said "SOLUTION". Upon bringing the puzzle home and tearing open the packaging, I discovered to my dismay that there was but a single sentence on the other side of the SOLUTION paper: "Keep trying". What a piss-off. I eventually solved the puzzle a few weeks later, and was very proud of myself when it happened

Hey guys, here's an opportunity: AUCTION: 5 x 1 BTC 2013 coin including certificate of age + shipping. Current price is BTC 1.32. That's quite a bargain (shipping and certificate of age included). only 14 hours left until the auction ends, get your bids in (sorry for misusing this thread, I hope it doesn't piss people off too much)
