well, you already have RSantana in the bitcoin coin biz. given his comments i bet its crossed his mind to counterfeit Casascius.  I'd be overwhelmingly flattered to see that happen. While I admit my mind does deviate from pure moral thought sometimes, I have no intention of counterfeiting. I went down this road when I was coming up with my coin. I wanted to create a successful product. I couldn't think of way to do that while minimizing the risk of counterfeiting. If someone has a VERY easy way of detecting counterfeit coins then I'd be anxious to give it a try. The problem is that most methods of detecting counterfeit coins involve something that is too burdensome. It has to be as easy as a visual inspection or maybe like they do it now with paper dollars (writing on a dollar bill with a special marker). Hi RSantana: as a loyal customer of yours, i certainly didn't mean to imply that you WOULD do it; just that its clearly crossed your mind  In fact someone like you who feels it would be an easy task needs to be involved in these types of processes to help design a counterfeit proof product. Yes, I didn't think you were trying to say I would do it. Thanks for clarifying. I agree, I like these discussions. I think it helps us get closer to where we want our currency products to be. The more I try to solve problems like this the more I realize that the best medium for bitcoin is digital. If we try to go physical then we take on all the problems and baggage that all other currencies have. Staying digital is what makes bitcoin powerful. |

So far, I am managing to sell quite a few thru PM... generally here is how it's been going:
- you express interest in a PM, just a brief note asking for a bitcoin address
- I will send you a unique bitcoin address and ask you to quote my entire message in your reply, along with your shipping and e-mail address, so it's all in one place
- I send out the coins as soon as I get your reply back and confirm payment. If you sent me an e-mail address, you should get a robo message from the shipping software with the tracking number as well.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

Just got mine in. They look great. They are a bit thinner than I expected (because I am used to the other physical coin), however that isn't a negative thing; at least now I can carry some around easily.

I ordered two last week and they arrived promptly. I am extremely impressed. It's so great to be able to hold a bitcoin in your hand. Everybody should have one of these.  I just ordered ten more. I plan on opening and redeeming a few of them on Youtube when I receive them so we can all be sure that the bitcoin encrypted within each coin can truly be used. |

one suggestion, on your website, you stated
"If you ever need to recover the digital bitcoin, there is an import process that allows you to convert the embedded code back into a digital bitcoin so it can be spent over the internet."
Could you please put up a brief description of this import process and links to the resources, i.e. mini-to-full private key utility, private-key-to-wallet.dat import utility. (I checked my 0.3.24-beta client but it doesn't have this function).
The value stored in the coins depends on these utilities, I'd make sure they will always be available as long as I own the coins.
